sorry one more thing. i also think it’s pretty disingenuous for siken and other people commenting on this to act like this is a matter of him being upset about his personal life being used for like, fandom edits when he has literally said this:
which is just like. Such a fucking bonkers position to have as an artist and honestly feels kind of intellectually dishonest. this isn’t even in defense of 911 or whatever like i think the show is actively bad a lot of the time (as opposed to the high art of supernatural and sherlock i guess. LMFAO) but it’s just really annoying to act like this is anything other than the fact that he’s fine with his work being used for media/characters he personally likes but not for when he dislikes it/doesn’t care about it. which is like. that’s his prerogative i guess. but it’s extremely frustrating that this is being presented by siken and others as like, Young Fandom People Disrespecting the Sanctity of his Writing About Grief. “you can use my art for some fictional guys but not others” is what’s going on and i guess he can say that but it actively makes me think less of him as an artist, lol.
and like this is all kind of besides the point anyway because even if i thought his feelings on this were valid he would still be in the wrong for seeking out a random tweet with like 50 likes that literally did not mention him and blowing it up in front of his 80k followers to say You’re interpreting my art wrong. only to then try and say Oh actually i’m not saying you CAN’T do this i’m just giving my opinion :) as if the prospect of the author of a work hunting down your tweet and putting it on blast like completely unprompted isn’t a discouragement to people talking about your work like that. but i digress. To be honest i just really hate when people play dumb and try to act like this is some moral issue with fandom or whatever when it’s genuinely not. like. Can we actually discuss it for what it is lol
