I figured his hair should be definitely shorter than when we first meet him in CotBP. The shirt is probably cleaner too. I dont do the white man dreads but added just a little braid and a few trinkets on his hair (including the piece of eight), since he is basically just starting.

No long goatee braids yet, he will get there. And of course the little earring from his original concept art.

Now that everyone is discussing Nolan's Odyssey movie, I feel like it's a good time to let non-Italians know that the production dumped plastic props into the Italian sea. Weirdly enough I could not find any article in English about it but it's a fucking problem nonetheless.

since it's highly likely that Elizabeth neither told anyone about Norrington's death nor that she even met him on the Dutchman it's really funny how Jack will always think that James actually being killed dead on that island trying to escape and that's how the heart oh Davvy Jones was returned to the owner like isn't it crazy. I bet Jack would be really impressed if he knew. he might've even respect James even more who knows

Like it's so simple but fun how Curse of the Black Pearl plays with the idea of "who gets to breathe" both figuratively and literally.

They're besieged by threats of the noose, the threats of drowning, the threats of constriction, the threats of injustice, repression, subservience. And in the end it's not just Jack who's being saved from suffocation--it's the culmination of all three of the main leads fighting to breathe and fighting to let each other breathe.

For Elizabeth to breathe, Will and Jack must breathe. For Will to breathe, Elizabeth and Jack must breathe. For Jack to breathe, Elizabeth and Will must breathe.

It's just such a fun motif idgaf if the corset thing is factually stupid.

So many of the darker elements of piracy in cotbp get swept under the rug so easily with everything that is happening, but im glad the do subtly hint at the cruelty and ruthlessness of it, making a clear contrast between piracy as per Jack Sparrow vs piracy as per Barbossa. Like... Barbossa straight up tossing Elizabeth to his crew (so they can basically gang sa her on deck)?? Not to mention the multiple subtle threats towards her during the whole movie. I never paid attention to it as a teen, but now that I notice those things as an adult is fucking terrifying. They didn't shy away from that. Meanwhile while Jack is alone with Elizabeth he doesnt even think of making an advance on her until they are drunk as fuck and she iniciates physical contact.

Even when he holds her hostage at the beginning to escape, its very interesting the way is framed, he's flirting yes, making Elizabeth put his belt and baldric back on, but he is doing it to taunt the commodore, not because he intends to carry on the threat.

The themes man... this fucking movie.

idk but it's so funny how jack started hitting on elizabeth only when they're more or less friends and have some history together. And even then he doesn't really do anything before she is actively pushing things forward. On the other hand, remember how later in awe barbossa just straight up grabbed her face to announce that they're going to die and that she will regret being "so rude to him" (fucking hell man). In conclusion jack is our consent king if nothing else.

my thing with speckett is I do find it funny how beckett somehow managed to fumble the easiest man on the seven seas like jack has been known to cozy up to barbossa call him his bestie call him daddy etc after he literally left him on kys island and personally tried to kill him to death many times this is just normal to jack but beckett is so fundamentally distasteful that even he was like ok well now we're pushing it !
