so at the moment, all I can really think about are rough nose rubs. like, gently knuckling the nose or the pinch-and-swipe are great, but the rough scrub with the heel of a hand is just perfect because it means that the tickle was too persistent to be quelled by a simple brush under the nose

the image of your partner sat in a darkened movie theatre, their face illuminated by the screen. they have what are the very beginnings of a cold, judging by the incessant, habitual sniffling you've noticed over the course of the evening.

you're holding their arm so you first feel them shift in place, then hear for yourself their wavering little inhales, as they're teetering on the edge trying their best to hold it back.

in the glow, you watch face on as their eyes fill with moisture, their expression goes hazy, their nostrils twitch and flare in anticipation until they curl toward you (and therefore away from the person sat on the other side of them) and stifle a harsh sneeze, squishing it back against the back of their hand.

the sneeze must moved things about, or ushered in the next stage of the "catching a cold" process. their sniffles are a little bit thicker, the glazed, wet look never really clears from their eyes no matter how much they try to blink it away, the underside of their nose is beginning to flush a little bit with the attention, and- oh...
