i have decided that when there are a few days in shitty hotels / safe houses between missions whoever is doing the supply run makes sure to pick up some cheap paper + pens + ruler + compass so that joe can have fun making geometric art to pass the time. nicky and nile are the only two who know to check for quality and will go to more than one store if they have to but when andy shows up one time with a my little pony coloring book and a box of half-priced broken crayons because it’s all they had at the store she went to joe still lights up like the sun. once booker came back with cake mix and a whole bunch of cheap icing in different colors because there was nothing remotely resembling drawing tools and he didnt want joe to get bored and that’s how he accidentally started one of joe and nicky’s most cherished quality time traditions of making the ugliest cakes you have ever seen in your life
