A mop of brown hair hit the back of the driver's seat with a tired groan as the car made an audible ‘pop’, and lost acceleration. Alec thought about turning on the hazards before he decided not to, and brought the vehicle to a stop on the next pull off of the winding back road. It wouldn’t be good to attract anyone who’d try to lend a hand with neither party having possession of a valid license, or a key to the car they were in.

The circumstances of obtaining and hot wiring the car is what brought the unlikely pair together, and now they might be waking. The meeting had been quick decision in both of their interests, Alec hadn’t even asked the seemingly younger kid their name.

“Keep watch for anything. I’m going to go check it out,” The runaway spoke with slight exasperation as he put the car in park, and reached behind himself to pull his backpack from the backseat. Inside Alec grabbed a flashlight before he flipped the lever to unlatch the hood of the car.

Alec’s mouth dropped into an irritable frown while he got a look at what was his supposed new living space as this new acquaintance continued to speak. His needlessly suspicious mind that served to push people out saw this small talk as more bait to get him to open up about himself.

“You reveal too much,” the brown haired boy criticized absentmindedly, still focused on the strangers’ mess as well as the prospect of three other roommates. It would seem the raised only child never really would get used to sharing his personal space with anyone else.

Even at his last run-down foster home back in America he only had to deal with one other person while this place was huge, Alec reminded himself in disappointment.

Reclusive, unsociable, and critical as well as intelligent. This was all taken into mind upon the boy being invited into the experimental first generation. Their other key personality traits and unfortunate backgrounds would never let the unrefined copies excel in their real purpose, but when it came to research they were all about to do wonderfully.

“Well, I was brought here with the program in mind,” Alec spoke directly at Y’s back from where she pried open the window. His tone impatient in compared to the soft mellow breeze that hit his freckled cheeks. “It was the headmaster that told me to come see him when I arrived, so where is his office?”

“Haven’t told you what you won’t already hear among the others. I often find that if there’s something you want to keep a secret, this place will soon find a way to reveal it, and it’s better to explain the situation yourself rather than have somebody expose that truth for you.”

She responded, stepping away from the window. Most people thought her an excitable fool with too much energy and too much hope for the future. They entirely failed to see that she was there when the soldiers marched by, that she had hunted for her food and been in the world of crime long before they had. Simply because she acted happy did not necessarily mean that she was.

So, she circled the boy. The happy demeanor fading as quickly as the sun behind the clouds, her own eyes shaded. Most could see that Yoriko was quick to switch from sweet to strange at the strangest of things. It was difficult to tell who she really was.

“Oh yes, I was informed they were intending to make a new soldier. I suppose it was rather naive of me to hope for somebody a bit more persistent on…” She fell quiet, as if considering her thoughts before shrugging them aside with a smile. “Yep, I’ll lead you right to him. As I said, it’s very easy to get lost in this place and there are places that you really should not go. If not because you believe that the past talks then at least because there are damages being repaired in a lot of places. Wouldn’t want to crush that precious brain of yours, now would we?”

“Ah, so the others already know you’re a bother and not worth the time being around?” Alec bluntly batted back as he turned to look at her curtly, though still his grim harrowed expression he arrived with remained unchanged on his face. His eyes a bit too wide, pupils pinned, and mouth set in a dissatisfying line.

The brown haired boy didn’t find any humor in this new presence’s chummy approach, or passive jabs in denial of it. At this state of time his mind was still fresh from the previous turning point in his life, and at the height of those stakes this entire conversation seemed dim at best and worthless at worst. In the wake of his parents' deaths, uprootion of the world as he knew it, and journey across the Atlantic Alec wanted nothing more than to lay down even though when he woke up there might be more strangers in the room.

It was going to take far more for him to give people the antagonized reaction they wanted at his lowest point so far. At the same time he wasn’t going to put up with it either. In his experience if you gave people an inch they’d take mile, and he had no intention of being a passive outlet for the other kids.

“Well? On with it then,” The tall boy then motioned to the door.

The shut off places sounded interesting, but he’d want to go it alone. Instead of taking precautions to heart Alec transferred the information into his mind on a pros and cons list to decide for himself if it’s worth it. If he fell through a floor and broke his neck…

The first successor watched out the window with a neutral expression, a visage he always wore around his peers as they made their way down the road. He sat in the van-sized bus on its way to the local mall with a few other orphans that were also do for new clothes. Some here were other long time residents that had recently outgrown theirs, as well as a few new faces who probably arrived without many to begin with. He was contented to have B be in the spotlight while he went pretty much unnoticed, and of course got to watch too. It was just how A liked it, but every so once in a while he’d find himself sucked into the matter.

The game ended as the vehicle came to a stop, and Roger stood up to usher the children out of the bus onto the pavement of the parking lot. Alec came out first and lightly shoulder checked B who followed behind him in a cheeky manner before the next person emerged.

Once all the occupants were out their guardian explained the rules to the trip to the newcomers.— Time to be done, money that could be spent, and a reminder not to leave the premise for the older kids that could walk around themselves.

The former seemed dumbfounded like everyone else was at first when they discovered just how wealthy Wammy was. Some of them had lived on hand me downs and rags their whole lives, now they’ve been told to go get whatever they wanted. L and A only looked like bums from choice alone with B being the only one who liked to take care of his appearance. The perfect companion for this excursion, and he figured the two of them could get into some amusement.

“Well, see ya,” The first successor spoke dryly to Roger with his body already turned to leave before he walked away as soon as the words left his mouth. Roger called after to have the clothes they found held at the counter for him to come around later.— Not trusting one of them to not get anything inappropriate.

    His knuckle came up as a soft giddy smile formed upon looking at Alec’s clothing choice. It was like him, wasn’t it? No style what so ever minus his own. A soft red tinge crossed his nose as he looked back over towards him, enamored by the others voice as always. It sounded so sexually appealing to the deviant and gave the second successor goosebumps upon his pastel skin. Turning his back upon the other once more, he realized the redness coming through his foundation within his reflection in the mirror. He gave a soft surprised gasp and immediately tried to hide any form of it by returning to applying.           He cleared his throat lightly as his lips thinned, trying to catch himself before replying with a fluttering crack within his own vocals.    “Ah, the makeup?” With a quick cough, he tried covering that embarrassing mess once more.    “Mm… I like it. It makes me feel – pretty?”                                     Humiliating.    “It may not be for everyone, but – I like looking at myself.” He shrugged, reticence showing within the dark eyes while he looked at the other’s reflection behind himself.    B had no shame admitting his vanity and spoke with pride about how good he always looked. It was such a strong contrast between the two that made B even wonder how they work so well together.    In the end, he would never admit that he got dolled up just to impress his roommate. He knew about Alec’s friends and sometimes became curious as to why he never met any of them. But B would never ask that, not like he should care anyhow.    B did care however, B wondered if A was just ashamed of him.                Was he hiding him?                          Was he embarrassing to be around?          Thoughts like that would invade this raven haired boy’s mind often.    His lips slacked as his dark orbs fell upon his makeup. Maybe it was because of how eccentric and theatrical he can be. Was it too much for Alec to handle? He seemed to be apprehensive at the thought of going out with him tonight, maybe it was that.    Anyway he was looking at it, he attempted to stuff those invasive thoughts down and away.    “Was it fun last night?” He craned his neck to look back over his shoulder once more.    “You seemed to have had quite the soirée.” Eyes yet again averting away, softening at the recollection of how A was so hungover yet still drunk at the time. He licked his lips, forgetting he had applied foundation over them and made a disgusted face.                                Whoops.   The taste was chalky and lingered upon his tongue. He remembered doing that on several occasions when fantasizing Alec underneath him. Those thoughts crept in his head more often than he would like. The longing to have the other within his arms proved too great at times and left B aching for it.

Alec rolled his eyes in good humor when B laughed at him before he leaned over the mattress to rest his chin on his palm. Hazel eyes looked at the second successor in the mirror as he did his make up. He smirked at the reflection’s focused expression and red cheeks, the brunette chalked the tint up to being watched while he worked.

“Yeah...it would look silly on anyone else,” A spoke honestly after he listened and nodded in satisfied agreement at the answer he was given. It probably helped B already being pretty, at least he thought so— A left that part out though.

Some of his odder actions seemed to erase that somewhat in the eyes of the other students. The first successor couldn’t see their point from the gutter however, as he tried not to notice the second while the dark haired boy cleaned his fingers with his tongue. If someone twisted his arm it would pop out of place before the A would admitt that his roommate was painfully his type.

There was a frustrated curse in his mind when he first saw him, and the taller boy aggressively avoided any situation that would lead to their contact. Luck not to be found— this kid was also intelligent, and quickly shoved the prior potential second seat out of the way.

It would seem they were destined to interact on some level, even before an executive choice was made to put them under the same roof. Alec would be told separately where he’d have a hour long one-sided argument with L— who like always, boredly rebuffed every point he made until Roger came to inform him classes were to start in five minutes.

Alec opened his mouth to answer B before it was replaced with a huff of a chuckle and a small grin at the other’s twisted expression.

“Pretty boring besides the success, but it tasted a bit like that.”

He wouldn’t call the the public school delinquents his friends. If that were true Alec would have to admit to being a pretty piss poor one, always convincing them into stupid ideas and cheating at cards. He was more of what the parents would call a bad influence, really.

There was only one person he actively wanted to be around, but A didn’t trust himself to get closer to B without becoming further invested. Even without his prior experiences the first successor reminded himself he wasn’t supposed to desire these companionships within his position anyway.

In A’s life he doesn’t really have much time for anything but academics and catching up on sleep so usually any other activity than that he crams into the nights where he’s able to finish early. This leaves his options highly limited to sneaking out and finding trouble for entertainment. However, as a child with more time he liked to play games, explore, and for a brief period played baseball.

021. How do they display affection? He’s more physically affectionate and thoughtful than verbally when showing that he cares because he’s simply just bad at it. Lol

031. Are they superstitious about anything? It’s rare for A to talk about, but he walks around with an intrusive paranoid belief that any personal relationship he forms will end in catastrophe for one or both parties. With everything else he’s hypocritically skeptic.

038. What bad habits do they have? It’d be easier to list his small list of good habits because I can’t in confidence agree with most of the things he does lol. The most frequent are smoking, being generally shady, and thrill seeking.

078. How emotionally stable is your character? Barely despite his appearance and answer 098 it’s polarizingly poor in comparison. He’s in control within his own little bubble he’s built for himself around Wammy’s House, but it’s a very thin and frail existence considering that it is built on a lie. It’s strained further as he becomes increasingly aware of it and has to develop dual minded views on this fact to cope with it. Within the program he’s been able to briefly escape the reality of his time as a child, and even with its crushing stress A finds it more welcoming than what’s really eating at every resident at the orphanage to an extent. To maintain a hold on what he has he comes off as silently critical, overly observational, and assertive to prevent a challenge by any outside perspective to stay in a position of control.

He’s good at hiding it I’ll give him that, but w h e w.
