I’m relistening to all of Murderbot (for the umpteenth time) so I can listen to the new book and I’m thinking abt how it left the first humans who treated it like a person and with respect and it immediately meets a transport who can’t understand not wanting to be with its crew. A transport that has never seen abuse and has been raised with the knowledge it was loved. Murderbot leaves and immediately meets a bot that is treated with love and like a friend. A bot that has never seen abuse and can’t imagine not being with its crew friends.

Murderbot is just realizing that being treated with love and respect and as a crucial member of a team is a possibility and is immediately bombarded with other bots in that exact scenario. What a culture shock. That’s not even getting into the ongoing culture shock of hey maybe the way the corporation is constantly monitoring and abusing people (human and construct alike) is bad and all that propaganda abt non corporate polities is in fact propoganda
