most people are lucky enough to never know how much they are worth.
edmund pevensie learned at the age of ten that his life was worth a war, a sacrifice, and the death of a god.
he spent the rest of said life trying to live up to that.

nobody ever talks about the witch literally wearing aslan's shorn mane as part of her battle outfit in narnia. but i've been thinking about it for literally 18 years atp
I did not make this realization until I was like.... 16ish and then promptly blocked it out
Iirc Isis Mussenden (the costume designer) made this choice on purpose to show Jadis basically gloating over her victory at that point in the film. The way she used the costume changes to visually signify different points in the character's journey is actually really fascinating. For example she had the idea that Jadis' regular outfit was "melting" throughout the movie, hence why her dress gets darker and her crown gets shorter, to show how her power was waning as Aslan's power was growing. Anyway Isis is brilliant and I love her work (she's now the costume designer on Wheel of Time and her work on that show is also incredible)
deeply deeply adore your propblogging. please tell me one fun fact about narnia props that you rotate in your mind like a blorbo
they used plant motifs with symbolism tailored to each pevensie & their personalities and strengths across all their props, all of which are awesome (actually their crowns have four motifs each, two for personality and two for major events in their story. source) but what i think about most is this: peter's are the oak tree (which is an obvious choice, meant to symbolize strength and kingship and wisdom)—but the other is the apple tree, which is in reference to the events of the magician's nephew, with the tree of protection, and symbolizes how peter is a protector. their protector. i think about the apples/leaves on his shield and weapons belts and crown and how he used them to be a shield to both narnia and his siblings every day. every fucking day.
susan pevensie is a pair of bare hands in a fresco painting. raw, cold, rotting.
pink, peeling, crafted.
running through lucy’s hair as she ties forget-me-nots into auburn braids.
wiping edmund’s tears away after another battle where another person’s blood is on his hands and she needs to take the stain away.
shaking peter’s hands, smooth and unweathered with age, as if they are co workers and not siblings.
covering her mouth so that she doesn’t scream the name of her made up god when she sees lucy’s hair (tangled and bloody and ripped off the little girl’s scalp) and edmund’s face (so much like her own but his is crushed and bruised and his eyes will never open again) and peter’s hands (twisted as if he was reaching out for her - as if he knew she was there)
susan pevensie is a saint drawn onto a ceiling.
susan pevensie is an artwork made too quickly and with too little attention.

beautiful, faded, lonely.
forgotten, forgetful, alone.
the other Bennet sister fills me with so much hope. for the girls who were never chosen. for the girls who have never fit in. for the girls who’s sisters naturally seem to flourish socially but couldn’t understand why it wasn’t the same for them. for the girls who are overlooked. for the girls who dream of a gentle and stable love. for the girls who tell everyone they’re okay with being alone. this one was for us, love is possible.

the only future of the internet is the following tab of tumblr. death to "for you." Death to algorithmically generated content that exists not to spread humane values or accurate information but only to monetize your attention.
In the future the internet will be dead except for the weirdos who hang out in the post-algorithmic, cratered-out ghost towns, and then and only then will the social internet finally achieve its potential.
THAT'S MY FAMILY RIGHT THERE
Okay, Moriarty expressing that he doesn’t regret helping Sherlock and fucking up his future career because he thinks being with Sherlock will be more interesting is so beautiful and important to me. I’m hoping when this inevitable betrayal happens it’s at least partially because Moriarty thinks it’ll simply be more interesting to have Sherlock as an nemisis. I want Moriarty to dramatically betray Sherlock in the most flamboyant way possible and not once apologise or express regret because to him their friendship isn’t even over. I so desperately need this series to have at least four more seasons

the scene where moriarty makes his first kill... how dónal manages to make it look like he's having a panic attack while also having some kind of violent awakening is beyond me. absolutely nailed the 'oh god what have i done wait i kinda like it' expression. what a guy.
