This is a medical decision, business should have no sway over it. If you’re going to ignore medical facts and just do what you want for ‘the economy’ then just say so, don’t make it seem like there’s been some medical discovery that changed this.

Consider that some of those businesses are hospitals (ER’s, med/surg floors, and especially the ICU’s).  We need to keep as many of our staff as possible to take care of all of these cases. One RN out with covid can close 8 beds due to lack of staffing for those beds.  That’s 8 people who can’t get admitted.  One MD/DO who can’t work in the ER will disrupt the care of as many as 40 people in a single shift.

Yes, but if that nurse gets the rest of her floor infected, or that MD gets his other three doctors infected, and they end up in the hospital themselves? That’s not only 8 beds closed, but maybe two dozen. You can’t play with people’s lives, and you can’t forget that this is highly transmissible. Healthcare workers do not deserve to be fodder, and when they suffer, so do their patients.

Man I cannot stress this enough. The “this is how I am, take it or leave it” attitude is an act of immaturity. We all have toxic traits that we need to work on and as an adult it’s our responsibility to recognize the damage that they can do to the ones we love. We all need to put in more effort in becoming better individuals.
