The cruelest joke, to me, the existence of man
Divine soul trapped in flesh for such a short span
Straining so long ‘gainst our binding chains
Vital essence lost, swirling down dark drains
Now only aware of that poor inner being
When confronted by pain of life’s poison sting
As Loki now bound to the core of the earth
Paying for past crimes, we’re sentenced to birth
These bodies aren’t built to house souls of the ether
Nourishing wants of the body, helps Fenrir break tether
Resist nature, we must, whatever the cost
For if that wolf is loosed, all hope is lost
Maybe this punishment is not what it seems
But a twisted perversion of old gods dreams
A game that has changed with the creators tastes
Original intentions now forgotten or debased
Code running untended, chaos unfurls
Entropic daydream now dances and twirls
Inscrutable now, those original rules
A game of survival, of nature most cruel
For taking what’s needed, by guile or by force
To survive, all things can be done, no remorse
Ancestral warriors scream out from my blood
Crying for violence, a rapturous flood
But now those that live by this ancient creed
Are caged for the animal side that they feed
For most, now those instincts lie buried beneath
A layer of comfort in gilded, clasped sheath
