Book Review: Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. Weiss, MD
How I came to the book: I was having one of the most nourishing gathering of fellow goddesses at my dear friends birthday brunch in La Jolla last Saturday afternoon and this book came up several times. Having the once in a lifetime, profound 2 hours with these women, I took the book as a clue to further my spiritual development.
Quick Summary: This book is about a psychiatrist and how he stumbled on Past-Life therapy with one of his patients that was living with major anxiety and fear of choking and dying. He goes through his recorded tapes their sessions. They begin with hypnotizing and getting her in a deep trance then he realized some of what was coming through was not of this lifetime, it was of others, and in some sessions they’d revisit a lifetime several times. But after her waking up from being hypnotized she recalls some of it and is getting better and better after each session. in some of their sessions there are different voices called Masters, and the patient’s higher self as well. These voices would come in during the in-between time when the patient dies in one life and waits to go to another life. And this is when the truth comes to give us all insight and peace. Dying isn’t as scary because when we go back into the light we are energized. Also, we are all the same but on different parts of our own individual soul’s journeys. Each time it’s our choice on what we want to learn in this lifetime. and the debts are to be paid to the next lifetime. That’s why when we are met with people in our lives that do us harm, It’s because they haven’t learned that lesson and that it’s their job to learn it in this lifetime with us. If not, it’ll be carried on to the next lifetime. All in all, we are immortal, our souls will carry on and Earth is where we learn and where we are meant to help others that are not of our level of knowledge (this does not have to be conscious).
My thoughts and how they pertain to me and my life and big takeaways:
I finished this book in less than two days because the story and discovery of different lives intrigued me. I felt the messages of the Masters and the patients higher self to be spot on in acknowledgment to my soul. There was a moment in the ending chapters where one of the Masters says “Understand that no one is greater than another. Feel it. Practice helping another. We are all rowing the same boat.” p.211 Weiss. That is helpful to me right now because of my cloudy judgment on what I want to do to contribute to the world right now. I just released a poetry book (from which I know was from one of the Master’s voices the poetic one) and my body is not wanting to continue with real estate anymore. How this helps is that we all can help each other. I don’t have to be a star on tiktok to get money to support myself even though that’s my ultimate dream because I love making them so much. lolol. but real talk, I have some sort of problem that I’m working through myself in how I can contribute to people. And getting into my femininity and staying there as I step into whatever label it is so that people can identify me is just very difficult right now.
Moving on, “You develop through relationships. There are some with higher powers who have come back with more knowledge. They will seek out those who need the development and help them.” p.187 Weiss
That personally teaches me that all the relationships that didn’t work out was really for me teaching that other person in the relationship something about themselves so that it can be felt emotionally/subconsciously and become permanent. They mentioned, it is not enough to just read it, but one must really feel the impact to be taught wisdom, and sometimes that wisdom takes time. in divine timing. ha. we must know both sides or wanting and giving. “intellectual knowledge must be transformed into emotional (subconscious) knowledge” and so vice versa right? it’s a learning situation for both parties or rather all parties involved. so, that means more friends and relationships and don’t just run away if they don’t vibe with you. you have something to learn from one another. ok sweet.
Lastly, we all have our diamond in our chest that needs to be cleaned all facets. and acknowledging that we are all working to clean that up or not is just what is. you’ll shine brighter if you do the work to clean up yours. and maybe relating to others help others clean theirs up too. and other side of the coin, allowing others to help you clean yours can’t hurt, right? :)
see y’all on the next book review!
