getting annoyed all over again when i remember a player getting asked about leipsic’s misogyny and the player going “no comment” instead of speaking out against prevalent issues in the nhl. for a league that espouses toughness while being a “gentleman’s sport”, the nhl sure is populated by cowards

it’s incredibly telling, how white, cis, straight men in the nhl respond to issues of racism, misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia

some players really chose today to tweet about how they used to make excuses and blame everyone else for their problems, or how their own (white) youth hockey experience showed them that coaches only have their best interests at heart

at best it’s not being able to read a room. at worst it’s trying to silence the voices of minority players who speak out against a culture that hates them
