“Will you stop your shouting? I haven’t broken her!” the Doctor shot back, paying only a small amount of attention to the humans in the room. He was more concerned with calming the TARDIS down. She was certainly angry about something, he just needed to figure out what.
“What’s wrong, old girl?” he murmured under his breath as he shimmied his way under the console on his back and began twisting wires and adjusting knobs.
@runawayncble
“And there he goes, like a bleeding mother duck,” she murmured with a huff, shaking her head to herself. She slowly walked over to the console, then walked around it, trying to find out what was wrong and barely able to dodge every debris that comes her way.
Then she stopped for a moment, touching the console and raised her eyebrow. What does she want to tell US? Christ, and it’s already hard trying to understand things that are able to talk. “What is it? Recharge? Leak? Defenses– The cloister bell isn’t even ringing– what?”
@notjustatrophywolf
Rose knew how the TARDIS worked. She knew the inner workings of the beautiful creature they were standing in. She knew that TARDIS was alive, much like every person in the room. Probably moreso.
“Well, something is obviously wrong.” She was stating the obvious, because between the explosion and the screeching, she wasn’t sure what to do. Rose was staring at the console at a complete loss. A deep breath before she dove into the fray with everyone else. “Have we collided with something?” The idea came to her, but the Doctor would have known that, they would have felt that, right?

This just in: Mun is very adorable, a delight, and a menace to society.
@missioncommandcr
Really, Rose was wandering. Just wandering, getting her bearings. It felt like she had been on a different planet for years. Despite this dimension being an almost parallel to the one she had left behind. Still, it was wise to get her bearings. And as she was doing so, she ran into, literally ran into what was definitely a familiar face. Outside of a spacesuit, sure, Rose wasn’t sure what year the whole visit to whatever had been, but this woman looked about the same.
“Do I know you?” She asked, cautiously. Time-lines were tricky, and she wasn’t always sure what had happened when.
“So you are real.”
They’re the only words that Melissa could come up with on the spot. For someone who normally excelled under pressure it was embarrassing for her to fail so hard socially as she did in that moment. She thought it a fair moment to falter, considering she’d seen the woman, but once. On Mars no less - outside of her own crew’s site. Nowhere near any place marked by NASA ( or any other major space agency or association ).
“I wondered, you know. If you were real. For a long time.”
Rose snorted, and then laughed. She couldn’t blame the woman for believing she wasn’t real. That the Doctor wasn’t real.
“I can’t blame you.” She echoed her thoughts aloud. “It was a bit odd.” She smiled at the woman. “I don’t think we ever caught your name, though.” A tilt of her head as she watched the woman’s face, taking a bit of personal pleasure at the expressions this woman had. “Yeah, the Doctor tends to do that to people, but I promise you, both he and I are very real.”
“I’m lost. I’m lost in the middle of nowhere. Possibly Wales. Why did it have to be Wales?” Rose sat down on a rock on the side of the road and leaned her head back, looking up towards the sky. “Wales! I’m lost in blasted Wales. Whose bright idea was it to take a road trip? Oh, right, mine.” Of all the bright ideas Rose Tyler had ever had, this was on the very bottom. Her car was several kilometers back, and she still hadn’t found a house, let alone a village, or a mechanic, or something. No, she was just very, very lost.

Starter Call!
Jack stepped back to give her room to breathe, but he kept his hands on her shoulders as though he was afraid she would disappear. There really weren’t words for how relieved he was to see her. He had been thrilled just to find out she hadn’t been killed at the Battle of Canary Wharf, and even then he had thought he’d never see her again. “What a coincidence,” he grinned. “So am I. The good Doctor’s about the only thing that can get me to set foot in London these days.” He paused for the space of a breath, but he never really had been any good at keeping quiet when he was excited. So he shoved his hands into the pockets of his old army coat and followed Rose, talking near a mile a minute as they ambled down street. “But here’s the thing. Cause I figure, you know, way he explained it, that whole thing with the Cybermen, it was because of those fissures. But after Davros and the Daleks forced them open again, when he took you back, he said the cracks were closing. So, what? Something forcing them back open again? We’ve been having more rift activity lately, that’s why I’m here looking for him.”
Rose paused, her body rigid as she tried to process his words. How did she even explain how she had gotten back to this dimension. It wasn’t something she was ready to admit to herself, let alone Jack. And the Doctor? He would know, and he wouldn’t be happy. The danger she had put herself in was something she knew both Jack and the Doctor wouldn’t see as a calculated risk. And she wasn’t ready for that. Not from either of them.
“I didn’t use the cracks, they’re not opening again. If there’s rift activity, it’s not from that. I’m sorry, I have no idea what would be causing that. Nothing followed me through, I’m sure of that.” She tried to force a smile, tried to prove that everything was fine. Like her ears weren’t still ringing from her trip, like her body still didn’t ache. Quickly enough her smile became real, and her worries fell away. She rushed up to Jack and hugged him.
“But I did it! I’m here. It worked!”
Men Drivers
“What?” the Doctor bellowed from the wardrobe. He had been attempting to organize a few things, but that had failed spectacularly. The problem with having a full house - er, TARDIS - was making sure everyone was dressed for their surroundings. Couldn’t very well have the humans freezing to death or something.
It was a quick jaunt back to the console room, over the span of which he had convinced himself that Rose was just being ridiculous over something or other. But when he poked his head in the door and saw the smoke billowing from under the console, he quickly reevaluated the situation.
“Oi!” he yelped, going for a fire extinguisher. The flames looked to be superficial, nothing critical damaged. “What did you touch?“
@runawayncble
The thing about locking yourself in your room for some peace time when you’re in the TARDIS is that you NEVER get the peace you went there for. Ridiculous, right? But that’s how it normally happens, at least to her. So, it wasn’t much of a surprise when Rose called out to that daft MARTIAN.
Donna gave a loud sigh, offended about how she hadn’t got a bit of the relaxation she wanted from the confinement to her room, and made her way to the console room. Only to find the console on fire. Not good.
“OI! What the hell happened here?”
@notjustatrophywolf
“I didn’t touch anything!” Rose shouted back, waving an arm at the now actively flaming console. “You must have done something wrong! You always do something wrong. You always get us stuck somewhere, and trapped on a hostile planet, you’d think you get off on getting us stuck places. What happened to a bloody vacation?” Her other arm was waving madly, and dangerously, close to the Doctor’s torso.
And then Donna appeared, questioning the situation. “This bloody moron broke something again! You’d think he was new to this! But no, it’s like my bloody mother in a car. I swear!” She stopped flailing long enough to pull in a deap breath, ready to go on another tirade. At least, she planned on it, until a rather small, but no less forceful, explosion happened behind her. And she hit the deck. “See! You broke it!”

@runawayncble
It had been long enough that Rose was not above seeking outside help, and other companions, in her search for the Doctor. A few months back in her native dimension and she was at a loss. UNIT knew nothing, Torchwood was a last resort, and she’d have to go to Wales for that. So the next best thing was Donna. Donna Noble. It wasn’t that hard to find the woman, being with the Doctor had taught her quite a bit. Still, she felt a bit off just ... showing up on the woman’s doorstep. But there really wasn’t a way to do this that wasn’t going to start with an awkward conversation. So she pulled herself up taller, not that her height was anything to boast about, and knocked on the door. She almost wished the other woman wouldn’t be home, because this was going to be one awkward conversation.
Men Drivers
“Oi! Are you sure you did it right this time?” Rose was staring at the console, just as it started to smoke. Actual smoke billowing from it, and from her experience, that was not a good thing. “Doctor, I think you did something wrong!” She called again, not pulling her eyes from the console. Where in the bloody hell was that man? She wasn’t about to go triapsing through the entire TARDIS to find him, or Donna, or whoever else had climbed aboard this supposedly calm and relaxing field trip. A rather forceful roll of her eyes, she only knew how to pilot the damn thing part of the way. And she wasn’t about to go pulling knobs and pushing levers. Well, pushing knobs and pulling levels.
“Get yer arse out here!” This time she shouted rather loudly.

“Do I know you?” She asked, cautiously. Time-lines were tricky, and she wasn’t always sure what had happened when.
“I did it! I really did it!” The excitement was overwhelming, she was back in her native dimension. Albeit alone, having left everyone, well, almost everyone, she loved behind. The human Doctor had wanted to come, but she had needed to find the Doctor. It hadn’t been enough, his human clone was him, but not him. And she wanted to go home, her real home. She wanted her London.
And she had succeeded! A whoop and she twirled, spinning in pure joy. Everything was right once more. She absently hoped no one caught her spinning like a schoolgirl.
“Rose?”
At first, Jack hadn’t been sure. It was impossible. Rose was trapped on another world. Worse than that. But there she was, real as the nose on his face. Or at least, he hoped she was. When she turned at the sound of her name, though, all doubt left him. The instant he caught her eye, he knew. He ran to her and swept her up in his arms, spinning her in a circle before he set her feet back on the pavement.
“It is so good to see you! How are you even here?”
She turned sharply at her name, ready to defend herself. It was second nature by now, with the life she had lived since the Doctor. But there was nothing to defend against, because standing there, as new and young as the day she had met the insufferable flirt, was Captain Jack Harkness. And then she was being assaulted. In a friendly manner, but he was squeezing her a bit too hard.
“Jack. Jack. Put me down, you’re crushing me.” She shoved at him, not trying too terribly hard. But he was squeezing tightly. “I came looking for him.” The manner of which she had traversed dimensions was something she wasn’t exactly thrilled to talk about, it hadn’t been pleasant.
The bustle and noise of the city was something the Doctor had always loved. Not even any particular city, although there were a few he was quite attached to. He just enjoyed the life and vibrancy. As he made his way through the crowd, he could feel someone behind him, a steady presence that had been following him for a few minutes now. Turning, he put on his best smile. “Hello there!“
Rose had been following him. Mostly to make sure it was him, she really wasn’t trying to be creepy. But she needed to be sure, she needed to know it was him. Because her search had led her far from home, far from London, far from England. Thankfully, though, still on Earth. She knew he wouldn’t be entirely happy to see her, well, probably. Rose wasn’t certain about that aspect. The only certainty she had was that she wanted, no, needed to see him. So when he turned, and there was that unmistakable smile, she couldn’t help herself. She flung herself at him like some silly child, wrapping arms around him and grinning wider than seemed possible.
“Finally!”
