Accidental Eavesdropping + Regency AU in the PJO fandom!
I get the impression that you want me to write a Pride and Prejudice AU. (also this is gonna get confusing as I keep writing about good boys named Percy)
Percy is in awe of the Di Angelo estate. He may be the heir to the Poseidon fortune now, might have an estate of his own and a fleet of servants and better clothes than he could have ever imagined, but at heart Percy will always be the kid who grew up with nothing, not even knowing who his father is.
It’s been a year since his mother confessed the truth of his parentage, since he was brought to the manor by the sea and thrust into a life he doesn’t understand or want.
The Di Angelo estate has sprawling grounds, meticulously cared for by the Lady Persephone, has long hallways that seem to collect shadows. It has vast ballrooms that Percy has seen filled to the brim and so empty that his footsteps echo against the walls.
Percy has been here before, walked these same halls, heard these same echos. It seems to dwarf him every time, reminds him with every step that he does not belong, that he is an outsider, no matter what honors his birth bestows upon him.
Without Annabeth, he would have been lost. Annabeth had been his rock, his teacher, his best friend. She had laughed at his fumbling manners, but had done so with kindness, had corrected him when he mistepped. It’s thanks to her that he’s here at all, wandering the halls looking for Nico.
Nico isn’t his rock, or even his friend, in the way that Annabeth is. Nico is Lord Hades’ youngest son, caustic and funny and kind when he thinks no one can see him. Percy wants, desperately, to know more.
Percy is fairly certain that a servant should be escorting him, but Bianca had insisted that he could find his way to the Blue Parlor alone. Percy is increasingly skeptical of both her faith and her motives.
“I don’t know if I can do this anymore.”
Percy turns towards Nico’s voice, drifting down the halls. Nico sounds strained, tired, voice rough with emotion.
Percy hesitates at the door. He’s not sure what Nico’s relationship is with Jason, except that it spans the course of years, and makes his throat go tight when he sees them together.
“See Percy,” Nico says, and Percy’s hand stills on the door.
