“We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke, and a presumption that once our eyes watered.”
— Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (via books-n-quotes)
“I’m exactly the person I was always meant to be singing for the people right at the back of the arena, the ones who don’t fit in - the outcasts, the shy, the-pretty-sure-they-don’t -matter. Showing then anyone can fly above the critics and the bullies. If I can do this they can do anything they want to. “ - Freddie Mercury

To deep sea creatures, humans are the “aliens.” We come down out of nowhere, shine bright lights everywhere, and casually steal a couple of the inhabitants to do experiments on back on our ships (source)
A bit more...
Long text posts tonight but it’s like 2am and I just keep thinking about life and I just want to share. Like my teenage years were where I discovered real grief and heartbreak and betrayal and chronic illness and faced massive fears like hospitals and tests and meds. I learnt so much but my early 20s have taught me that I really didn’t know all I thought I did and I sound so much like my mum now it’s hilarious.
Advice I’d like to give to my teenage self (so all of you too)
• Others opinions do not matter. Seriously, the people who bother you in high school will mean nothing in a few years time.
• Being alone is not bad. Eating lunch on your own is not weird. On that note...
• EAT!! The amount of times I would not eat *at all* was ridiculous.
• Wear what you want. Just own it, because down the line you really regret the things you didn’t do.
• Your boyfriend is not the centre of the universe. Even if this does turn out to be your true love happily ever after relationship you need to be grounded in yourself as well. Life happens and you never know what’s around the corner.
• Enjoy every day, even just the little things. Seriously, don’t worry your life away.
• Do what you love. What you think you want now may be totally different from where you end up 10 years from now, take the journey your way.
• Invest in good female friendships. I love my guy friends to the moon and back but the older I get the more I realise there are things they just don’t get! Honestly it’s my girls who have kept me going.
• Have friendships that aren’t rooted to your SO. Breakups are messy and your friends can end up like kids in a divorce, make sure you have people you know you can always rely on.
• Don’t let someone treat you like dirt. You do not deserve it. It is not love. If they make you cry all the time that friendship/relationship is not worth it.
• Time does not equal depth. You can be closer to someone you’ve known for 10 days than someone you’ve known for 10 years and that’s just how relationships go.
• Life is messy. Just go with it.
• You have more control than you think and you have every right to use it.
• Failure is not the worst thing that can happen. Learn from it and grow. Don’t fear it.
Things every girl should do at least once in their life...
(Or at least that I’ve found in my own experience)
• Cut your hair off. It’s liberating in a way I can’t even describe.
• Go it alone. A day trip or a holiday, learning to enjoy your own company is vital.
• Be single on purpose. Again, get comfy with yourself.
• Scare yourself. Got a thing you’ve always wanted to do but keep scaring yourself out of it? Do the thing.
• Try a different style. Finding yourself comes from stepping out of your comfort zone and that includes your style.
• Read something that’s “too difficult” or watch something “too complicated”. You might surprise yourself.
• Go to the theatre. Fancy ones or the local amateur dramatics, it’s all fun.
• See classical music or a ballet live.
• Go to the countryside and watch the sunrise. It’s a special feeling.
• Go tech free. Immerse yourself in what you’re doing and who you’re with and stop worrying about a screen.
There are loads more but this is all for now. A lot of these are for any gender but I can only speak from my experiences.
Side note: Do not put yourself in unnecessary danger! I cannot stress this enough. Know where you’re going and what you’re doing and please for goodness sake stay safe!!
“You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations (via books-n-quotes)
Honestly feeling like trash today, but in a good way, like it sorta feels like a mood...
I’m in such a Bowie mood today
People with anxiety don’t have a train of thought. We have seven trains on 4 tracks that narrowly avoid each other when the paths cross and all the conductors are screaming. (source)
I don’t normally post my recipes but this was an experiment that turned out really well and was so suuuuuper simple that I thought why not? (Again, I don’t measure really 😬 but I can tell you it was 1 tin coconut milk and 2 packs choc chips! And the crust needs to be blind baked gas mark 4 for about 12 mins)
I did buy a ridiculous amount of stuff though, so now I’m kinda broke 😂
Cosplay went well on Friday 🙌🏻 didn’t get a single photo of myself though 😂 typical 😅
