welcome to my blog, you can call me mavis!! (20s). below is a more extensive explanation of just what you’ve stumbled across…

this is primarily a fanfiction blog, all the characters i write for or used to write for can be found in my masterlist linked above.

i write with an f!reader nine times out of ten since i primarily write f/m smut, however most of my works are in the second person and do not have explicit use of pronouns. older works may feature she/her pronouns (i’m not super sure because i don’t tend to look back on them) and if a post does use specific pronouns it will be stated at the top of the fic. fluff drabbles tend to feature a gn!reader, so again this type of specific is always stated at the top of a work.

ao3 is where i have some older, longer fics as well as crossposts of some fics on here. if a fic has been crossposted it will be linked on a characters masterlist if you prefer reading on ao3.

blurbs and thoughts under 1k will be exclusive to here since i see no need to post that to ao3, but otherwise most longer works will be crossposted. drabbles are also crossposted in multi-chapter compilations.

my ao3 is currently locked so you can only read if you are a registered user!! this is unfortunately something i have had to do because of ai mining currently occurring on the site.

i do always do my best to put sufficient warnings on my fics, so please always read those before jumping into any works. if there are any warnings you want me to start using or any that i miss please don’t hesitate to reach out and tell me!! making sure people are comfortable is always my top priority, so if there is anything i ever need to change to accommodate then i am more than happy to do so and make changes where necessary.

Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.

I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.

Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.

WHEN DID YOU START WRITING?

I started writing fic when I was thirteen and prior to that I don’t think I actually wrote much at all. I wasn’t a kid who had always loved it then found out about fanfic, I genuinely cannot tell you why I decided to write fic since I was truly quite awful at writing!! School wise, my maths was always better than my english for a very long time.

I assume I must’ve started as many fic writers do, that being when I couldn’t find the thing I was after I decided to make it myself. I’m obviously very glad I did, and very glad I wasn’t discouraged by how bad I was!! I don’t think it even occurred to me at the time, I was just glad to be making anything at all. I wrote consistently between ages thirteen and sixteen then dropped it for a while before picking it up again at eighteen :) which leads me to now.

WHAT FIC DO YOU WISH COULD GET A LITTLE MORE LOVE?

I’m not sure to be honest!! All that comes to mind is Battered and Bruised purely because it’s a longer fluff fic, and fluff fics can be overlooked anyway so I think it suffered that since it’s quite a long one. But it did receive more love on ao3 than on here so 🤷 I’m grateful for all of it either way. I’m also not someone who thinks about my fics at all once they’re posted and out of my hands lol.

FIRST FAMOUS OR FICTIONAL CRUSH?

In truth I can’t quite remember but… it’s got to be Indiana Jones. I am not certain because my memory is crap but also… all roads lead to Indiana Jones. That was my whole world, there’s no way it wasn’t him, and yes I did start two fics for him and no I did not finish them 😔 and yes it’s been three years since I started them…

HOW OPEN ARE YOU TO PEOPLE IRL ABOUT WRITING FICS?

Not very tbh 😭 my ride or die has always known because he was there when I first started writing, and proofread my first ever fanfic (which was awful but he remained my friend anyway yay) he is also my only irl who knows my username!!

I have told my other best friends that I write fic but it took me three years of knowing them to finally tell lol, then when I finally did they weren’t surprised 💀 they don’t know my user, though, but they’re amazing and respect that that’s my boundary and don’t go looking!! Maybe one day I’d write something that they’re allowed to read, if I didn’t write smut I probably would’ve given them my user already tbh…

WHAT IS A MUNDANE FACT ABOUT YOU?

My life is so mundane that I can’t think of anything to be honest 😭 I crochet and I’m learning to knit as well, I make a lot of bags and tapestries. I also love to collect all sorts of stuff, art books and figures make up the majority of my shelves, art books in particular I am a fiend for, they remind me that I really need to get back into the habit of drawing!!

none of these belong to ai. these are all what human writers have been writing since day one, way before ai was invented. ai was trained to mimic how human writers write — so em dash, not x not y but z and short sentence stacking would never have been used by ai at all if ai hadn’t learned and mimicked them from human writers.

no, you are not “fighting against ai” by accusing every work that has em dash, not x not y but z or short sentence stacking in it as ai-generated, you are helping ai harm the writing community by engaging in witch hunt and scaring human writers away from creating/sharing their works for fear of being wrongly accused of using ai.

speculations, accusations and ai witch hunt harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not more.
