as though toby fox does not ever use minigames to convey major story beats. as though Ralsei's metafictional transition from tutorial character to hero to person was not intricately tied with her status as a character who explains and interacts with GAME ELEMENTS.

Where you pout your way to victory, dont like a fight? Find a quest annoying? Hate the dessert? Ignore it, it's not worth the princesses time anyway.

OKAY I WASN'T READY FOR JUST HOW FUNNY AND SELF AWARE THIS GAME WOULD BE

Like first things first, yes "Pout Points" (i love that this is what they're actually called) are a genuine resource you can use to get shit to happen in the world or skip quests because you're the princess and you can just do that and it's hilarious.

Also almost everyone in this game breaks the fourth wall and seems to be at least partially aware of how RPGs work and Elise still manages to break the game out of sheer selfishness

EVERY DIALOGUE IN THE GAME IS LIKE THIS

I could probably add more examples of how absurd this game is but this is one of those things you gotta experience for yourself (and also i hit the 10 image limit on mobile).

I don't know how far in the game I'm in so far but Elise keeps acting like a spoiled brat with everyone around her and she's not getting better, in fact she's arguably getting WORSE.
