When you travel and you’re on the road, you realize that anywhere can become your home. You remember, how very little you need to be happy: some food, good company and a warm place to sleep will do the trick. The rest will work itself out. You’ll find ways to fill your free time. You will walk down the street not knowing where to go but sure you’ll end up exactly where you ought to be. You will cross paths with a perfect stranger and for an evening lay your head down and share the sacred space of sleep. You’ll wake up the next morning and see a new face, stare out at blue water, put one foot in front of the other across roads that don’t yet know your name. You will fall asleep easy, dream big, your eyes will widen for adventure, your heart, not so heavy anymore. Your life becomes simple again. You are nothing more than a mark on the map, a grain of sand on the beach, a leaf on the tree, another traveler roaming these dirty streets. You don’t know what you’re looking for, but still you search as if each step on your journey satisfied an endless yearning. And your worries back home shrink the further you roam. Extend your vacation, make it your vocation, you don’t need all that stuff, you know it doesn’t make you happy. Take a train to somewhere you’ve never been. Go alone or go with a friend, the world is a beautiful place and regardless of you’ve heard on TV, we are all perfectly safe. So get out of town and watch the sunset over a family of trees different from the ones you’ve always seen. Money comes and goes, some lovers last and some don’t, but there is one thing you can be sure of. Your days won’t last forever. The sun will rise long after you die. So pack a small bag, bring a camera, a change of clothes and remember everything can be replaced except the memories you choose to create.
