[Replies in a bit, my loves. Just got home from work and I'm exhausted. Need a small break. (Plus I've got work tomorrow morning. 7 a.m. sharp. People need their coffee way too early). â„ ]

"Iâve been to a dinner yesterday. The waitress, which in the UK we just call girl, are so fakely nice here. In the UK they are genuinly cheerfull. I feel like a lot of people donât voice their genuin feelings here."
"They don't make enough money to want to be genuinely cheerful," she tried to explain. "I think also most people generally like keeping to themselves. That'd be an interesting experience, though, to compare the people from the US to those in the UK." Tasha had only been to the UK a few times, but never to sight see, it was always for a mission.

Girl's Night Out || Valya and Natasha
"Coupons or whatever they are, what else?" She handed the papers to Natasha and ducked around to grab a water from the kitchen. Â "You look like you could use a bit of pampering, what happened to you?" She fixed her own hair, pulling it into a bun, and came back over, perching on the arm of the sofa.Â
"Work happened to me. I'm used to getting hunted down and chased after by assassins, I can handle that. That's just something that happens. But jesus, if one more reporter wants to get the "inside scoop on the real Black Widow and S.H.I.E.L.D.", I might just scream." This wasn't supposed to happen when she'd released the information about S.H.I.E.L.D. and H.Y.D.R.A., but now that it had, there wasn't much she could do to change it.
"Enough of my day, how was yours?" She asked, changing the subject quickly. "Any new friends?"
Girl's Night Out || Valya and Natasha
"Hey Mama, guess what I picked up on the way home?" Valya dropped her bag on the floor beside the door and went to find Natasha. Sheâd just come back from the library. "Thereâs a new salon opening up nearby and theyâre offering half off manicures and pedicures. You interested?" It had been a while since she and Natasha had done something together just for themselves that didnât involve a sparring mat.
Tasha was practically asleep on the couch when the door swung open and Valya stepped through it. "If it's another orphaned cat that you think we need to shelter I'm not taking it in." One was enough, she'd decided. Honestly though, she was glad Valya hadn't offered up another activity that would require strenuous effort on her part. Manicures were relaxing, and after the day she just had, that sounded just about perfect. "The salon sounds great." She picked herself off the couch and ran a hand through her hair to make it decently presentable before picking up her keys. "So then, what did you pick up on the way home?"

Things usually never went this easily, according to Natashâs reaction to Peterâs response. That amused him, enticing a smile to appear across his face for a short time. Although he couldnât help wondering why he was suddenly chosen for this huge group, or whatever it was. Was he that great? He couldnât even save Gwen and her father, what made him so different from everyone? The fact that Peter was half-spider? That he could climb walls, sense danger, lift things way beyond a normal personâs strength? That he had probably the most sharpest reflexes known to man?
That meant nothing in the end.
                                                             ââ âActually yeah. Why me?â
"You know, I already like you," Nat glanced over at him as she lead the way to her car, "You ask the right questions." Though it was a difficult question to answer without his file handy. She didn't quite know everything about him. Usually, she just showed up, recruited, and left, but this case seemed a bit different.
"Well, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been monitoring you for quite a bit of time, and while I'm not sure of exactly why, the extent of my knowledge is that you are quite good with technology. Rumor has it, Stark was even a little bit impressed by you.
"You'll fit in just fine with us, if that's what you're worried about. I mean, from what I've seen, you belong here." Tasha opened the door to the corvette and waved Peter into the car.

Tessa nodded. âI guess so, I still have to find out how things work around here. America is so different from the UK.â she said. âIt is so much hastyer, everything rushes, in London people took time to say hello calmly.â
"Everyone has things to do around here and don't feel like they have the time to say hello. Though, mostly, people are stuck in their thoughts and aren't focused on other people." This was sadly true, even at S.H.I.E.L.D. Even the friendliest of people would ignore you if they had something on their mind.

Itâs hard playing a canon character. Constantly Iâll doubt myself because Iâll see all these other versions of the same character portrayed so well that I just donât feel so confident in my own portrayal. When people follow me I think theyâre trying to measure me against all of these expectations, and I canât meet them because I tend to lead the character down a different path than whatâs canon.

She nodded curtly. âGood.â She had no intention of getting into a situation where she might be shut down. She couldnât risk not being in control of herself until she knew Cal was safe.
"No, I came home seventy three days ago and he was gone. His car was still there. Everything looked fine except that he was gone." She looked at the woman sharply. "And he wouldnât just leave. He had a life and a home. He wouldnât just leave me." She said the last softly, more to convince herself than anything else.
"Possible kidnapping?" It could be a number of different scenarios, really, but they had to start somewhere. "Did he have any enemies? Anyone that would have wanted him dead or maybe even wanted some of his plans, ideas, blueprints, that kind of thing?" Tasha tried to look as empathetic as possible, but her mind was whirring at the possibilities. Where to start though?
"Was there anything valuable that he had that someone might want to steal?"

Darcy nodded, separating the papers into two piles while the assassin talked. âI totally get it; sometimes I wish Iâd done more with my life than this, but on the other hand, itâs a pretty nice gig for a poli-sci major.â After she sorted through them, she paperclipped the two piles and put two different sticky notes on each. âAlright, since the probability of you being here more than a day is slim, Iâve sorted them into piles of âNeed to do todayâ and âCan wait until tomorrowâ.â She explained, pleased with her handy-work. âYes, be amazed by my interning skills.â
"Darcy, you are a saint," she shook her head in amazement. If hugging was her thing, Nat would be doing just that right now. Though she'd have to find some other way to show her appreciation. "As soon as I get through this stack of papers, we're having a round of drinks, I'm buying." Scribbling her signature on the first page, she started scanning through the lines. "How are you just an intern? I mean, what'd you say you were? Poli-sci major? And here you are sorting paperwork for me."

"I think I cannot unravel that. It is not my project and I do think it will do the project more justice if we let it develope more before Dr. Banner reveals it contense. It is quite the heavy theory he dug up." she smiled calmly.
"Understandable, I mean, the labs can get pretty secretive, huh?" Though it was all Nat could do not to pry anymore, she knew better after all. If Bruce wanted her to know, then he would tell her.

âYeah.â Analyising her words carefully and simultaneously adding in Ghostâs own persuasive speech would Peter finally come to a sort of⊠Semi-conclusion. It wasnât going to be easy, according to Natasha, and it required some kind of dedication. That hadnât been his forte recently, but May would most likely say this was what he needed.               Then again, if she knew who he really was. On top of the entire thing, the Avengers themselves were part of S.H.I.E.L.D. Plus the woman preparing this entire thingâ The Black Widow herself.                But the labs! The science! Think of what I could do! Oscorp no longer held meaning to Peter, and with Harry nowhere to be seen and Gwen, well, goneâ There was nothing to lose. He was ready for this. He needed this. Desperately.                                   ââ "âŠNo. Not at all. I wanna do it.â
Tasha studied his face while she gave her speech, hoping he was at least considering her offer. It, of course, was coming as a surprise to him, but maybe he'd actually say yes. Few people had, actually. They were mostly scared after the HYDRA infiltration and the siege on New York, and...well, they had a bad rep, but they meant well, most of the time anyway.
"Oh." She replied, a bit surprised when he said he'd comply, but that wasn't to say she wasn't ecstatic with his reaction. "Well okay then. Uh, I guess I don't really need to give the rest of my speech, so if you'll just follow me we can set you up with some paperwork, give you the grand tour, et cetera."
She still wanted to hear about this Ghost guy that Peter had mentioned, but she figured there was time for talking about that on the ride back to HQ. "So then, have any questions so far? Hesitations, concerns, worries?" Usually the difficult part was recruiting, however this was going far easier than she'd originally thought it might.

She arched a delicate eyebrow. âI donât care how much he likes technology. No one is poking or prodding at me. And Iâm sure he would love to meet Cal, heâs a smart, interesting person.â She said icily.
Then her expression softened and she continued, âUnfortunately I donât know where he is at the moment. Thatâs why Iâm here, normally Cal would fix something like this.â Â
Tasha was a bit taken aback by the woman's sudden change in tone. "Well then we just won't take you to meet him." She wondered if Ava could actually have emotions or if her protective nature towards Cal was just programmed inside her.
"You don't know where he is? Do you have any clue, did he leave a note, anything?" Maybe she could help find him after they were finished looking for the part Ava needed. It couldn't hurt to try after all.
