This is a sideblog. Follow backs will come from @kirashaurqhart. I recommend following both blogs to make sure you don’t miss any important notices. Due to a demanding full time job, I might often be slow to respond. But, I try to at least check in for messages once a day and to post at least one response to all lines every week.

Becker is very crossover & AU friendly thanks to a wonderful canon MacGuffin that allows travel across time and distance.

If I’ve followed you, it means I want to write with you. I generally lurk for a few days, reading posts, getting a feel for the writing before reaching out to those I’ve newly followed. In generall, however, I will wait for blogs that are mutuals only to follow back before reaching out.

If you’ve followed me, please give me a few days to check out your blog and decide if we’re a potential fit. These are not a follow-for-follow blogs, but they are mutuals only. If your blog does not have an age statement indicating you are 21+, a rules/guidelines page, and a character bio (for canons as well as OCs), I will not follow back. If you have the above and I don’t follow back, it likely means I just don’t see our characters interacting or our styles meshing well.

Just popping in quickly to say I haven’t disappeared.

My big project ran into problems post-deployment and I’ve been scrambling ever since. We just got the fix released and things look good. So, with any luck, I should be able to start writing again in the next couple days.

Vali stared at the man for a moment before realization hit him. “Right, sorry I forget that magic isn’t something everyone’s used to.” He’d assumed the other would be, perhaps partially due to his strange get up, but that clearly wasn’t the case. Which made this a bit harder but he’d till help if the other let him.

He retracted his hands, though he stayed focused enough to keep the slight green hue on them so the other could see them better.

 “I’m going to touch your temple, then you’ll likely feel a bit of discomfort as the side effects of your concussion fade suddenly.”  Narfi had said he’d been fine, but the one or two time Vali had been subjected to it he’d found it disorienting to just suddenly be better. “Mostly I wasn’t sure if you’d be comfortable with me touching you given we just met and you’re obviously used to combat.”

Becker blinked. “Magic.”

He’d grown rather a bit from the green officer assigned to the A.R.C. project who’d joked about dinosaurs...until he actually seen his first one and realized the improbable actually existed. With what had happened in the years since that first anomaly at the museum, he wasn’t as inclined toward disbelieving sarcasm at the word magic as he might have been before.

He was afraid his disbelief likely showed on his face, even if he didn’t react verbally.

“Appreciate the consideration,” he added after a moment. Even his team didn’t always think of things like that, seeing him as ‘Action Man’ still in some ways.

Brown eyes studied the man in front of him a moment longer, but his instincts told him there was no immediate threat from this man...even if the very idea of magic was both forboding and laughable. Slowly, he nodded. “I’ve had stranger first impressions. Go ahead.”

Being a bird himself Ian found it hard to not take pity on the baby bird. It was in his nature to want to help other animals.  His dog started barking as he had sensed Becker approached and likely sensed the approaching Terror Birds.

Ian put the chick back down when he heard the man. The shapeshifters eyes locked onto Becker. He too sensed what his dog had but not quite as quickly. “I thought it was just a lost chick.” he wasn’t sure what kind of bird Becker had been talking about either.

“He’s a very lost chick.” Becker moved closer, attention still on the surrounding area, listening for the tell-tale squall that was the terror brids’ call. “Just doesn’t belong here.”

Motioning for the other man to join him in the tree line, he glanced down at the dog before returning to his survey of the area. Becker wasn’t the animal expert on the team, but he accepted it as common knowledge dogs could sense things coming people couldn’t. “Can you convince him to be quiet?” he asked, looking up and examining the branches within reach. It should be enough to keep them out of reach. When the birds came for their chick, he could put them down and then call the others for pick-up. “We need to be out of sight before they get here.”

Hey all!

Doesn’t look like I’m going to get to much of anything tonight. 12 hour day with far too much troubleshooting and tracking down customer issues. My brain is shot. Tomorrow should be a bit lighter. Just had two of my eight meetings for the day cancelled. So, I will try to be on earlier to write replies and answer messages.

Feel free to take a stroll through starters or memes, if you like, and I’ll write replies tomorrow.

Open- Got you//Ian Starlight

“Shh its okay I got you.” Ian picked up a small baby bird that was on the ground. The eagle looked up at the tree’s around him wondering where it had fallen from. He figured that the nest had to be somewhere close. His dog had found the small bird and led him right to it. “Its got to be from one these trees.” he muttered to himself.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Becker called quietly as he emerged from the trees nearby, A.R.C. patch on his uniform visible in a way it wouldn’t have been before Convergence.

They’d been trying to round up the pair of terror birds for an hour. But, every time they got one, the other came at them. They weren’t attacking when both were free, however, only when someone got in their way. Abby suspected they were mated. Now Becker had proof they weren’t hunting, but nesting. Or something like that.

“Its parents are likely headed this way,” he continued, EMD rifle still held at the ready. “They’re also about eight feet tall and mean as hell.”

Apocalypse Averted

Convergence might have been averted, but there was still a lot of work to be done afterward. The anomalies were closed, at least for now, but there were still creatures being sighted all over the country. They had spent the last few days splitting up, along with the strike teams, to cover all the reports and sightings and rumours of sightings.

Standing outside the fancy terraces of Wilton Crescent, Becker watched his men load a pair of Coelophysis into the truck to take back to the A.R.C. At this rate, the menagerie was going to need an expansion while they waited to see if the anomalies were closed for good or just temporarily. Abby would probably be ecstatic, while all Becker could think was at least there didn’t seem to be any more future predators out there. Those had been confined to the Anomaly Research Center.

When they had the creature incursions all wrapped up, he was taking a holiday, Becker decided while watching the men try to keep bystanders at bay until the truck with the Coelophysis  pair could be on it’s way.

“Oi!” He called, seeing the crowd pressing closer. “Back off you lot! Stay behind the barriers. It’s dangerous!”

“It’s fine, I highly doubt you came out here with the intention of running into someone.” No one did unless they or someone they knew had already run into Vali before. The woods were filled with all sorts of dangers and his presence while a constant in the centuries since his brother’s death wasn’t well known.

Besides if the, at least seemingly, mortal man had already managed to get himself injured it was probably for the best they’d found him. Disrupting his meal for the sake of needing help was hardly something that should be apologized for.

After a few moments more of stirring he moved from the pot, the fire underneath it sputtering until it was barely still burning, and toward the stranger. When close enough he reached out. His fingers giving off a greenish hue as he did so.

“I’ll need to touch your head for this to work,” he explained, not wanting to just touch the man out of nowhere. “If you aren’t comfortable with that you could just wait it out, though that could lead to more damage over time if this happens repeatedly to you.”

Becker laughed, despite himself. “No. That I did not.” He hadn’t intended to come out into the forest in the first place. But, the creatures never bothered to ask his opinion. If they did, they would just stay on their side of time and space. He might be out of a job if that happened. But, he could live with that.

He couldn’t help but think this man was taking the appearance of a modern soldier at his home very...calmly, as he watched him settle the pot.

Far more settled than Becker felt hearing the next words. They sounded reasonable enough. But, something just felt off, not normal about the way this man asked about his comfort level. And...was his hand changing colours? When had that anomaly dumped him, exactly? “I’ve been hit by worse than a tree. What is it you’re going to do, that might be uncomfortable?”
