Loki just hugged his son and kept his arms around him. "Its good to see you again Vali." (cuse Loki wanted to hug his boy :D)
He tensed at first, his self enforced isolation after Narfi's death had ensured that he was no longer used to these sort of things, but he didn't try and pull away. Instead after a moment he hesitantly returned the hug. "I missed you," he replied, because he did even if he'd thought he deserved his isolation.
Loki hadn’t blamed Vali for what happened. He hadn’t even given up hope for him and had been looking for him. It was Fenrir who had told Loki that Vali had returned. The god just wanted his family back together. He had tears in his eyes as he hugged him. “I am glad you are home Vali.” it meant a lot to even know that his son was safe. He had feared the worse and wouldn’t be able to cope with losing him too.
Vali held the other slightly tighter at that, unsure what to say. He couldn’t lie. Not to Loki at least. Even if his father wouldn’t immediately know he was lying it just felt wrong to just consider lying to him. So he couldn’t say he was glad to be here, or call it home as while it would likely come to be home since his family was there it wasn’t yet. “I won’t be going anywhere.” Even if he wanted to, because it’d do mare harm than good and he refused to hurt his family again.

He’d grown rather a bit from the green officer assigned to the A.R.C. project who’d joked about dinosaurs…until he actually seen his first one and realized the improbable actually existed. With what had happened in the years since that first anomaly at the museum, he wasn’t as inclined toward disbelieving sarcasm at the word magic as he might have been before.
He was afraid his disbelief likely showed on his face, even if he didn’t react verbally.
“Appreciate the consideration,” he added after a moment. Even his team didn’t always think of things like that, seeing him as ‘Action Man’ still in some ways.
Brown eyes studied the man in front of him a moment longer, but his instincts told him there was no immediate threat from this man…even if the very idea of magic was both forboding and laughable. Slowly, he nodded. “I’ve had stranger first impressions. Go ahead.”
Vali chuckled. “I I grew up around warriors, If I didn’t know better than to just touch one who’d probably just came from a fight out of nowhere I’d have lost a hand already.”
The ever present sorrow stabbed his heart sharply as he thought of the people who once had humored him and Narfi and then gladly allowed their fate to occur.
He forced that sorrow down almost instantly, though in that moment it likely showed on his face given he was not used to hiding it, instead focusing on the matter at hand and reaching out and touching the other man’s temple. The green hue around his fingers turned into a bright but small flash of green light and then faded.
“That should do it,” He pulled back his hand, taking a few steps away from the other to give them more room.
He looked back towards the soup, then back to his uninvited guest. “If you want some soup I have more than enough for two people. It’s mostly vegetables so it shouldn’t conflict with any dietary restriction unless you can’t eat root vegetables, celery, or potatoes.”

“I honestly haven’t done too well without company. Maybe company will help me out.” Wanda admitted with a shrug as she looked at him. She couldn’t imagine living out here full time but she had to admit the surroundings weren’t bad. The trees around them were beautiful. “Yeah I can see how you would like to get to know people if you’re out here all alone. If you want to come you can I’m fine with it if you are.”
“Well there is a reason total isolation is used as a form of punishment.” Vali pointed out with a chuckle that was less forced than it ought to be considering he’d been isolated for quite awhile due to his own punishment for himself. “I guess I’ll tag along then, though that probably means you’ll have to put up with Loki too. They’re a bit protective of me.” As if to prove his point the magpie left it’s place perched on the tree and took up one on his shoulder as he spoke.
Is Vali's home in the forest on Asgard?
Most of the time it's on Midgard, though I purposefully leave the actual physical location of it vague so that it can work better with whatever the thread needs. It could be in the wilderness of Asgard and just far enough away from anyone that he wouldn't be found but that's not something I've explored much.

“Well it’s a nice place to live.” Wanda said as she cocked her head looking towards the shack he pointed towards eyebrows furrowing when she couldn’t see it. “Yeah I would imagine it would be pretty boring out here with no one else around.” She said with a shrug as she brushed her hair behind her ear as she looked at him, “you could join me.”
“I could, but I wouldn’t want to disturb you if you’d prefer to clear your mind on your own.” Vali replied, smiling at the other. “I’ve lived out here for years, so I’m pretty accustomed to the boredom. It’s just a pleasant interruption whenever someone stumbles into me regardless of however brief it might be.” He explained as he once again took a step away from the tree he had leaned on.
