I know this is controversial and please don't get me wrong because I still enjoy jm's voice a lot and I do think he has improved a lot and is a better vocalist than say around the time of the group's hiatus/before enlistment but I don't think he's necessarily better than he was at the beginning of the group or in their early albums to Mots7. I think he's different and that's okay, and I understand he had to learn how to sing all over again but I think there was some irreversible damage to his voice and natural tone thanks to the company never caring to properly train him and that it's because he sounds different from back then that they've reduced so much of his lines this comeback

I don’t think there’s anything wrong for you to prefer the way he sounded before but in my opinion line distribution got nothing to do with how the members voices sound. I’m sorry I’m repeating myself but I feel like it’s a bit naive to think it’s how things work. Or that it’s the main explanation (and if it was really the case then Jimin should at least get more lines than Th and Jin).

I know Jimin got some ups and downs but overall he always sounded great to me. He still does. I love his voice. And it’s all I can say really since I’m not a vocal expert to go into a deeper analysis of his singing.

Absolutely nothing.

Jimin has always been the more impactful performer and the better artist. HYBE chose Jungkook because he’s cookie cutter and pliant enough that he’ll do whatever is asked of him. A man who has been on record to say he doesn’t have a story to tell, doesn’t have any desire to write and will do whatever is asked of him does not make a better artist to promote. That makes him a puppet.

A case study can be done as to how Jungkook who dropped 3 singles with massive push, left no residual mark or barely comes up in conversations. But Jimin, who got drastically fucked over with Like Crazy that had zero promotion still manages to be the topic of the best solo debut a kpop soloist has ever had.

So no Jungkook is not the overall objectively better pick to promote over Jimin. He just has the luck to be favored more by Bang PD and the fandom. That’s literally it.

I'm gonna put feelings aside and be very objective here. BTS vocal line is probably the weakest I've heard in kpop. Even jk who's a main vocalist is weak compared to other main vocalists, men or women. Jk is a weak vocalist but he is the best in his own group and companies priorities stability over popularity, meaning jk has a very beautiful but generic vocal tone and doesn't have a wide range but within his range he is very stable. Jm has a wide range and a unique tone that appeals to a lot of people but he isn't stable like jk. It makes sense that companies never touche the lines of the members with the most stability, they never do that. Having said that, they should have trained jm instead of giving him the lead title without proper training and now that his voice is actually more stable it doesn't make sense for people to give more lines to someone like jin who's voice isn't as popular and who's the weakest vocalist in his group. Nobody knows what's happening behind the scenes and I've seen a lot of people frustrated but the question is, is this something that jm himself is frustrated with to the point of actually doing something about it.

I don’t think they’re giving Jk most of the lines cause he’s the most stable, I think they wanted him to be the center and the main vocalist from the beginning so they trained him accordingly. They even flew him to the US to work on his dancing as well. If they trained him the most it’s not surprising he’s the most stable (maybe he had predispositions as well idk but it’s not the point).

It’s the same thing as when people explain that he deserves to get better promo cause he has better results (if they ignore Jimin). But it’s not how it works, he has better results cause he’s promoted the most, not the other way around. Just like he’s the most stable cause he probably was the most trained.

Jimin improving his vocals doesn’t actually matter cause it was never about this. Otherwise how do you explain he got more lines in previous albums even though he’s now better vocally. They saw Jimin had potential with his voice but they never trained him properly cause he was never meant to be pushed as a vocalist. It’s also one of the reasons why I said it feels like they used him. They didn’t even seem to care about him possibly damaging his voice but they still gave him the highest parts without properly training him.

Now that they probably think they don’t need to prove themselves anymore it feels like they’re trying to make the group look like what was originally planned. Or at least it feels like that to me. Correct me if i’m wrong but Th was getting vocal training with Jk, idk about Jin though. They trained for a long time without Jimin and we know some people, including Bsh didn’t necessarily want him in the group at first.

Another thing that bothers me in this Jimin erasure we can see in BTS album and performances in the last few years is that he’s one of the main reasons BTS blew up and now that they’ve made it, it feels like he’s cast aside cause “they don’t need him anymore”.

Whether you think the ship in kpop stands for friendship or relationship, or think that Jimin plays into it, that doesn't mean shippers get to lie, harass and minimise him. It's just a form of victim blaming to act like him having skinship with some of the members means he deserves the frankly unhinged behaviour he and the people close to him experience from them. I'm honestly so tired of this narrative that Jimin "can’t sing." I'm tired of seeing people in the fandom constantly saying he has "improved" as if he was some terrible vocalist before and only now became acceptable.

What annoys me even more is that there are members who are objectively weaker vocally or who haven't shown the same level of improvement, yet nobody constantly brings it up or turns it into a part of their identity. With Jimin, people act like his whole story is "he was bad but got better" when that was never the reality.

Jimin is the reason why BTS music sounds different and unique but armys are busy making some weird edits with sad music in the background about his past self to make him look miserable. I hate how Jimin can’t be vulnerable and real without his so called fandom using it against him.

I’m not a vocal coach or anything but no one in BTS vocal line is really that impressive technically to begin with imo (even though some armys act like Jk is on Beyoncé’s level), so then what matters the most is what they can evoke with their voices. And Jimin, not only has a unique tone, but he’s the only one who brings emotions and personality while still sounding great. And if anyone impressed me in BTS it was definitely him. Oh. I get what anon means but a 100K bump after performing at a match watched by hundreds of millions, supposed even a billion people is not something to feel too bad about. I'd really feel bad if those other members went viral after claiming jimins bits like vultures but this is not too big a deal. I'd actually say these bumps backs up what I was saying which is this was a meh reaction to their performance. The JK solo world cup thing was a way bigger travesty - it just feels slightly less terrible since all 6 of them got screwed on that occasion.
