Where'd you hear about the next one maybe being Abyssina? Sounds like itd be rad. Also any specific type of cat you'd pick for a lead felineko if it was up to you?

Sadly I don’t remember where I specifically heard that, it might have been on discord. I remember the YouTube comments on the secret video of fuga 3 claiming so.

also the whole secret movie mentions a “kemono case” so a lot of people are taking it as a Jack the Ripper reference which is English.

This could be wrong, but I really hope it’s not.

As for types of cats I’d probably say anything we haven’t seen before. black cats (Bombay), Norwegian forest cats, clouded leopards, Scottish folds, ragdolls, American curls, etc.

CC2 just needs to chill it when it comes to Russian Blues and Abyssinians. (Seriously how is cayanne an Abyssinian?? He looks more like a sphinx or Devon Rex imo)

On the Little fail Bronx questions, is there anything you’d like the franchise to do in the future?

I mainly have three things I'd like to see.

First,

Can we please get a Felineko protagonists and/or a girl main character?

(Yea technically Fuga 1 didn't have a main character but the rest of the trilogy kind of turned into the Malt marzipan show.)

As I have said many times, it would be cool to have an in depth Nono gameplay system of some kind. I swear CC2 has favorites and it's definitely the Caninu.

It'd also be nice to have a female main character at least once. Like don't keep her as a deuteragonist, npc, or love interest, let them be the main focus.

Second,

Can we leave Shepherd/Gasco/France?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Shepherd Republic, the locations, lore, and history are great!

But we've had 3-4 games set in Shepherd (in a five game series BTW). I would kill to see what the other post reset countries are like. Find out what kind of cultures they have and see the other 32 or so Titano Machina.

Yes, French is a big part of the series, but it did not start out like that (Tail concerto). I think LTB can really expand the world more than what we see.

As of now, we've only got short glimpses of Germany(Berman), Nippon (Japan), Abyssinia(England) and maybe Russia and America (and that's only if the Starbucks reference and Streka stories are still relivant at all)

This is part of the reason why I am excited for the next game because I've heard that it's supposed to take place in Abyssinia. Unlike Shepherd they have a more magic based society, I WANNA SEE THAT.

Fleshing out more locations could really help make the world feel bigger. Like there has to be stuff going on outside of Shepherd.

Lastly, and kind of related to the last point,

Can we see what happens to the world after Solatorobo?

Not necessarily Solatorobo sequel, but a game that is set years or even decades afterward. Fuga and Fugue of the battlefield are nice and all, but let's see what kind of bs this world has in store. Plus the fuga prequels introduced a lot of inconsistencies and retcons.

Alrighty folks it’s time to have a closer look here at the concept art featured in Dreamcast Magazine Volume #5 👀👀

First of all gotta say I’m incredibly lucky to have found a copy in this good of a condition wow.

Now I wanna say that my camera is kind of ass. I’ve got an iPhone 13 mini and trying to take any close up pictures of tiny details is a nightmare so I really tried my best with getting good pictures of the concept art. So let’s see what it looks like!

And OH MY GOD it has way more DPI than I thought it was gonna have I AM RELIEVED. On the left is a regular picture and on the right is a picture I took with a magnifying lens. I really hope tumblr doesn’t fuck the resolution on these images.

We got the interior of a vessel here with a crew inside. Very Captain Harlock-esque (kind of Gundam-esque too) to be honest. Seems like some kind of pirates. Enemies perhaps? Or maybe they were just characters within the story that you don’t actually fight or interact with. Big guy in the middle seems to be the captain and the crew all around him kinda all look the same. Like a Team Rocket situation. This may be the second or third time we’ve gotten a view of the interior of one of these vessels—or I should say one of these vessels that are still functioning and not sunken.

I have a miniature microscope that I won from an arcade that functions more like a macro lens but I wasn’t able to take any good pictures with it. But I can say with the details that are visible it is a great piece of art. The ceiling has a map of the world and you can see all the little consoles and stuff that the crew are working on. You can see Taguchi’s style shine through the characters.

Here’s that shark shaped vessel. Now I have no clue what this thing is honestly because we see nothing of this caliber in the final game. Looks to be some elaborate battleship? Maybe the exterior of that pirate ship? No clue. Kind of makes me think of White Base from Gundam.

Here’s that scrapped whale boss. I theorized it to be a Bakekujira or something like that. Though I can imagine they probably scrapped it because of Japan’s reputation with whaling and honestly I do think it was a good choice. But it’s a very cool design. Big ol baleen grin with no visible eyes from what I can tell.

Saved the best one for last but FINALLY AFTER ALL THIS TIME. We finally have confirmation that Morfa is really named Morfa and Player 4… is named…

Tomas!!!

Unfortunately many details are still obscured but we finally have a name for this elusive character. It’s no full art but we can work with it.

All four characters have some kind of machine displayed beneath them. I thought maybe they were shock guns but I think they might be vessels? They almost look like mechs? Was the Ocean Hunter gonna be a mecha arcade game?

Also, taking a closer look at Tomas it almost looks like he’s holding an animal just like Morfa is doing in her full art. Looks like a dog maybe? Actually no yes it definitely is a dog no doubt about it.

Translating the text we find that yes, the Ocean Hunter was originally planned to be a mecha fighting game! Really strange to think about. I’m glad they took it in the direction they did, though.

In conclusion. I’m really happy I was finally able to get my hands on this. I’ve been looking for it for so long and now I finally have some answers to a few mysteries. Yet another piece in my collection of Ocean Hunter related things. Now I just need to find the Japanese poster and the Torel phone card.

Who's your favorite character from all of LTB? And then who's your favorite character from each game?

My favorite is Elh, like she literally is one of my favorite fictional characters OF ALL TIME.

Her design, her story, and her attitude, it all scratches an itch in my brain. At this point I'm tempted to do a big character analysis post on her.

As for the other games, I really like Flare because her en voice is so adorable.

As for Fuga, I like all of the Taranis kids, but I think Socks is kind of underrated. Like yea he's the stereotypical nerdy smart kid, but something about how scrunkly he is really clicks with me.

On the topic of sidequests - were there any you wish Elh was along for? It seems like they leave him out of the vast majority of them since there are times when the player might be doing them without Elh in their party. Feels there's some missed oppurtunities for cool character stuff (or hilarity).

Personally would have loved to have Elh along for the quest where you visit the graveyard with the orphan kids. Seems like they were going to have some stuff about Elh dealing with his grief over the Paladins being wiped out in that Elh flashback section that was cut and I feel they could have done something with it in that specific quest too.

Not really???

Like of course I want more Elh (more Elh is always a good thing) but even if she wasn't present all the time it still felt like they were (to me at least).

But it would be cool to see them in more combat focused quests. She's got to know more spells than just shields and the Rite

Also according to the 100 questions trivia thing at the end of the Scarlet art book, there was supposed to be section where we could play as Elh during the destruction of Ragdoll.

That in particular would have been GREAT! If or when the remake comes out, I hope they are able to add stuff like this in it!!

Do you have a favourite side-story/sude-quest from the games? (I’m quite partial to the orphanage quests in Solatorobo.)

Oh that's a hard one, I can't pick just one because they are all so good. The Basset ones are a big highlight.

Id have to say the one that comes to mind for me is White Flower Bouque. Its the one where Red and Elh get flowers for the Nun's dead boyfriend in Samoyed. It was a nice moment for the two of them to wind down and just talk.

But not really because this was right before she tried doing the Rite of Forfeit so there's this underlying tension that pulls down on her. It sweet and tragic at the same time.

My other fav is message delivery in Mau, Cerise and Raisin are pretty cute and I like that Elh is the one to tell Raisin to confess his feelings because he's lucky to live in the same time and place as Cerise. Unlike Elh :(

Everyone always goes "Solatorobo remake"! But today I will be quirky, how you think a Tail Concerto remake could be like, if it ever happened?

Should it fully conform to its sequels, or try to be as faithful as possible?

Hmmm a Tail Concerto remake...

Now I will admit that I haven't played TC yet (I am planning to at some point)

But I have watched let's plays so what I can say is that if CC2 is doing a remake all by themselves, there might be changes due to budget.

I doubt there will be animated cutscenes or English voice acting. I think they might also add more references to the side material and wider series and have some quality-of-life features and make the Iron giant less frustrating.

But other that those things I think they are either going to be super faithful or they are going to flip TC inside out so it can fit with the rest of LTB (Darker tone/ Visual novel elements). Tail concerto is their first game after all so it could go either way imo.

Here they are in no particular order

✦Merveille x Beluga

MILF Hunter jokes aside, I think these two have such a cute relationship. They both have deep regrets, but they work through it together. They've probably spent a good while together working on the Power cell. It's also neat how they parallel Elh and Red. Not only that they also make a great power couple. Merveille fixes the Salamander and Beluga makes sure she doesn't overwork herself into a coma.

(Social awkwardness be damned Beluga can pull.)

✦Elh x Red

This is may be the most popular ship in the fandom, and that makes total sense. They literally have a whole game's worth of bonding moments and are basically canon. I personally love how they get on each other nerves, not in a sitcom married couple way but like actual teasing. They even tried to kill each other so they're even.

It's also wild that Elh is getting with the son of the man who destroyed her entire village.

Nowadays I ship them on the more platonic side because of the weird age gap stuff going on with them. CC2 just make them both adults and something???

Besides that, I still like it and it's really well developed.

✦Vanilla x Kyle

But really, the idea of these angry little city kids getting together is so cute to me. Also, possible drama of the president's daughter dating a commoner OOoOoooH

Not to dis KylexHanna but I think these two have more common ground and can relate more to each other.

Are from different times? Yes.

Will they be a bad influence on each other? Yes.

Do I love them anyway? YES.

I know this doesn't make any sense and I love it! I just want to see these two get up to shenanigans and tomfoolery. There isn't any content of them (yet). Regardless I'm quickly becoming obsessed.

✦Wappa x Socks

What can I say? I want good things for the gremlin spaniel. I think I really started to vouch for this when I drew the Dandadan crossover art. I think of them as a more chaotic version of Momo x Okarun.

And imagine Wappa has to go to school, and she asks Socks to tutor her. Does it go well? Maybe not, but that's such a cute idea regardless.

(And it's possibly canon too)
