personally I am of the opinion that vegans who are like “the way our food system currently works under capitalism on a large scale is exceptionally cruel to all animals including humans and is not sustainable, so I’m doing what I can to make the most ethical choices available to me about what I eat and encourage others to do the same” are generally very reasonable people who I agree with in spades. but vegans who seem to think human beings are not themselves animals who are ultimately also part of the food chain but instead some kind of other paternalistic higher entity that can never engage in ethical and sustainable hunting practices (and especially the fringe I’ve seen who think other carnivorous animal predators are also evil and need to be eliminated) are people I regard as foolish at best if not actively anti-indigenous and racist
veganism as an anti-capitalist endeavor in pursuit of greater liberation, not as a merely individual endeavor. veganism where everyone has a responsibility against animal agriculture, not just those who respect or empathize with non-human animals.
We are facing the largest mass extinction because people refuse to stop BUYING meat. Why do we have slaughterhouses while first nations people are facing food deserts? What you see is genocide and colonialism. Who cares about hunting. A deer died, yeah ok I'm sad but what about the millions of acres of habitat that were clear-cut for settler agriculture? A deer died but there will be more deer; there will be no more nēnē-nui. Turn the corn fields and CAFOs back into rainforests and rivers and grasslands.
It's not "veganism vs indigenous hunting," it's "veganism vs complicity in extinction." Animal agriculture took native lands away. Give it back. Stop buying animal products. Give it fucking back.
Yall don’t even listen to indigenous vegans or other vegans of color as a whole (in response to OP) so like
I don’t even understand what you’re saying

trans people don't need to hear your justifications for still enjoying harry potter in 2026 stop looking for forgiveness where you're not going to get it
if i walk into your house and see harry potter stuff, i'm just gonna assume you're a transphobe. no amount of "i got it from a charity shop" can save you from the fact that you value those books enough to display them in your home.
you can't just put the work of someone who's currently trying to eradicate trans people on display without being questioned about it, especially if you claim to care about us.
same goes for your social media, if you're willing to keep putting jkr's work on a podium and proudly talking about it, then it's simply logical to believe that you don't care about other people. it's selfish if i'm being honest, to think that your comfort matters more than the lives of millions.
and to the trans people saying that they're "reclaiming harry potter for the trans community"
no you're not, you can't do that while jkr and her neo nazi friends are currently trying to kill you. you need to let go or else your own community won't be happy to help you when our collective rights are stripped further away.
trans children in the uk are killing themselves because of the things jkr has done.
children are dead. children who should be happy and free to be themselves are fucking dead because jkr has used her immense wealth and social power to change laws specifically to harm trans people. if you really think that your fucking "comfort characters" are more important than the lives of children then you should say that with your full chest. go on. tell the entire world that you don't give a fuck about dead kids. that you don't have an ounce of empathy in your disgusting shrivelled heart, because you still have your shitty fucking books and your garbage movies. your comfort matters more than anything, doesn't it? maybe jkr will tell you you're one of the good ones, wouldn't that be nice?
is this anything
i don't want to start a free trial i want to own things for the rest of my life
"you don't know what you have until you lose it" works for things that suck too btw. sometimes you need to experience life without something for a while to realise oh damn that was some bullshit
