First: there are plenty of people are interested in socialism and comunism, especially as the commonly cited issues are displayed in capitalism, and as scarcity itself becomes scarse.

But once you get past the heat, you find there are discussions about other economic models, or just patches to our existing system, but your attitude is not condusive to enviting you to them.

Some of them are just things like "Can we require additional forms of accountability" or "How do we fix the justice system so it can catch up and keep up with our needs, making it so it's less likely for companies to engage in wars of attirition with victims?"

Second: Term limits and even age limits are actually a conversation that comes up. There are challenges with it, to be sure, but it's not something that lefties overlook or are afraid of? In fact, one problem democrats have been having with the democratic party is in fact the lack of young blood and the insistince of backing candidates when they really are not metally fit to continue the job.

There are many reasons why AOC and the New York mayor who's name I will mispell if I try to type it are highly popular. That young energy is part of it.

My overall point is - if you cool down a bit and become a safer person to talk to... lefties would not seem nearly as unreasonable.

Turning my asks off starting from today, not sure how long they’ll be turned off for, it’ll hopefully be brief. The Gaza GoFundMe scam accounts are simply overwhelming. While some have been relatively tame, others are using repeated images of children and it’s wrecking me mentally because I’ve had hundreds of these over several months.

I know turning off asks is a pretty privileged thing to be able to do, but I’m not avoided news of atrocities being committed. They are being beamed into my retinas whenever I look at the news.

Modern economy is when stock market is constantly creating new wealth out of thin air but we don't have enough money to feed children in schools.

So imagine you work for a company that produces shoes. And lately, the company has increased its production by 20%. It’s also selling 20% more shoes. Is it making 20% more money? Nope. Because the combined taxes on the materials needed for the shoes and on light and water has increased by 30%. So in fact, instead of having profit, the company is loosing money.

What does the company do now? Raise the price of their shoes, so they don’t have to fire anyone. But there’s a problem now. The workers from the neighbouring dairy company can’t afford a 10% increase on the price of shoes, because, just like the shoe makers, they didn’t get a raise despite dairy production being up 40%.

What would Marx do? Fire everyone and make them work for the government’s shoe company and dairy company which need 200% more money to produce their products. Oh, and that extra money, he’s getting it from increasing the taxes on everyone and everything.

And if by some miracle productivity still raises in the government’s companies, the workers are either getting none of it or all of them are getting the same small symbolic raise. Also, “all” means those who have worked harder and those who haven’t done shit. I find it really motivating when the fruits from my hard work are shared with that one coworker who should have been fired ages ago, wouldn’t you agree?

Capitalism isn’t great guys, but Marxism is deeply problematic.

No, it isn’t true. For starters, what I meant is that taxes are raised only (or almost only) after the Marxist government is elected. What these government do after inflation is put a maximum in the price of things (if all companies haven’t been nationalised) or printing more money to give the people, which creates a vicious cycle of inflation that only ends when the IMF intervenes.

In the analogy I made, before a complete nationalisation of companies, a shoe would sell at a maximum price of 15€ for example. But with the inflation, the internal cost of production would be 20€ (counting with salaries, etc.). What happens next? The company stops production. The workers loose their job.

As for the money printing, look at Venezuela. Money printing made inflation so bad, they now call it a hyperinflation.

Secondly, it’s difficult to find a graph that describes the relationship between inflation and an increase in taxes because Marxist regimes are often fascist in nature, like communist regimes, and do not share truthful data. So the international community prefers not to graph it. There are a couple of countries that are socialist, but not anti-democratic, like Portugal, but they exist mostly in Europe and use the euro. That means that Portugal only feels a significant inflation when Europe is suffering inflation and so the graphs between inflation and taxation are useless.

There is however one graph I found that might prove to be useful, but I’d have to further describe Portuguese politics from 1970 to 2000. I could do that, if you’d like.

I was focusing on the claim that taxes were the cause of the increase in the costs of everything relative to the price of labor.

The price increase story is an interesting story, but it would need to match real world observations to be relevant.

Graphs in a different language are fine if you provide translated labels - most graphs should be... workable at least.

At least in America, there's a government site that tracks prices and wages, which can be used to build a rough idea of what the economy is doing. https://www.bls.gov/data/ . I'm no data scientist, but it seems like for a claim like that, it shouldn't be hard to have at least a few graphs (even annotated ones) that show a strong correlation between tax rates and the price of goods compared to the cost of labor - or at the very least, documents that would show a failure to truthfully report the cost of goods. (Businesses, at a minimum, have to keep accurate financial records for various purposes. Their ledgers would be key historical documents in such a claim).

People aren’t being punished for being poor. I know many, including myself that didn’t have “two dimes to rub together” as the old saying goes. I started mowing lawns at about 8 years old. I had to use the customers mower because I didn’t have one of my own. I saved and bought one (used) to use. I started saving some $ of every job. I did this until I was old enough to get a part time job after school. It was a physical job. I was exhausted when I got off work. That job paid minimum wage ($1.19/hr). I’ve worked many minimum wage jobs. Then I applied at the phone company and the post office. I got the job at the post office. Worked there just over 20 years. Saved enough to start my own business which was a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 15 years. I didn’t get paid from my business for the first couple years. I sold the business and am now living comfortably but not to where I can buy or do anything I want. I still have to plan for larger purchases.

No I’m not wealthy. I’m not a millionaire. I’m semi retired and still working part time to make ends meet. So don’t tell me you are overworked for minimum wage. I’ve had jobs that paid less that the current minimum wage and they have been within the past few years. You whiney woke kids expect everything for NOTHING. You want to get paid more than you’re worth to do as little as possible. You want your college loans paid off because you got a degree that there is no job for. That’s just plain ignorant. You should have gotten the degree that will get you a job that pays enough to pay for your own loans. Why should I work my entire life to support myself have to pay off your debts. You signed the contract to pay them off so don’t expect me to pay it for you.

At a minimum, the world owes you legal protections (because the law exists to protect people). Many poor people can't stand up for their own rights due to not having the money to talk to a lawyer, let alone hold a lawsuit or go to the court without risking their jobs.

At a minimum, the world owes you some form of protection from people with dishonest intentions. Poor people receive significantly more scams than okay-off to rich people due to the fact that budget services often sell the information of poor people to shady companies.

At a minimum, the world owes you contracts that are held up, including when they are in your favor. In the case of leases, it is not unusual for landlords of low-rent areas (see connotation of "slumlord") to completely disregard their responsibilities in order to make more profit from peoples rent.

At a minimum, a BARE minimum, the world owes you access to housing that you can afford, but the market is such that if you have an eviction on your record, even if the courts ruled in your favor, even if you were in the right, and even if the landlord was actively breaking the law in evicting you, it can become impossible to rent a place regardless of if you have the money to afford rent.

Now look at that and tell me the world is giving poor people a fair shake. LOOK AT THAT AND TELL ME POOR PEOPLE GET A FAIR SHAKE.

There's a lot I'm not going into here, but these should be enough to support the statement that the system is rigged.

Oh and by the way, I checked what 1.19 should have come out to when adjusted for inflation (I had to approximate the year) and it's $11.52 https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1963?amount=1.19l. The minimum wage today is $7.25. That's a pretty big difference.

Ad Hominim attacks aren't just poor form, you'd be bringing back a lot of drama. If you want a community where you can have reasonable discussions about politics (as you indicate by making this comment), you really can't risk introducing this particular style of tribalism.

People who identify as SJW on social media do so because they perceive social media as a battle ground. If you reintroduce this strategy, you'll be helping to make it into one.

I don’t think you can do anything about the flash effects when unlocking the phone, but for keyboard issues, you can download other keyboards and disable the one that came with Android. I’m using the Microsoft Swiftkey keyboard and it has options to disable key popups.

As for the tabs, if you mean browser tabs, you can try another browser.

Also agree with the keyboard installation suggestion.

The problem is if one doesn’t update the software apps will stop working properly after a while. Like I’ve had this with netflix, WhatsApp, messenger and YouTube where they’d start bugging because I hadn’t updated in a while.

This needs to be fixed by android Devs!

I’ve started messaging developers. I’ve contacted Samsung Germany and Google Pixel Support.

Support has told me they will forward the Information to their developer team asap

I have also suggested Google placing a prominent warning in front of the installation menu until the issue has been fixed.

I have also suggested to remove the visual effects as a standard setting feature and to have them be optional. So that users have to actively activate them

I have suggested development do a check on all visual effects while being at it.

Support said, if you can and own a Google device, you can report the issue using the settings under tips and feedback.

Since OP can’t use their phone I doubt they can do this but everyone who owns a Google phone with android 11 or 12 or phone using android 12 can do this!

Make the Devs aware. Stay polite. But firm that this is an issue that needs fixing.

I went looking and it seems like OP isn’t the only one this is affecting. I found this under Pixel Phone Help: “The new material design changes are causing me seizures” dated from September 19, 2021.

This issue needs to be fixed asap.

I don’t know if this will help everything, but you can disable animations if you go to Settings-> Accessibility -> Visibility enhancements -> Remove animations. That will at least remove SOME of the animations.

Just tried the ‘turning off animations’ option and frick, it actually made the flash intensity worse. Before it be kind of a smooth fading transition where the flash was a second or two longer

But if you remove the animation, it makes the intensity of the flash so so so much worse.

Enable developer options by tapping on the build number in “about phone” a bunch of times.

Go to developer options and turn off “automatic system updates”.

Real cool that these people actively hide system settings from you.

Since OP can’t use their phone I doubt they can do this but everyone who owns a Google phone with android 11 or 12 or phone using android 12 can do this!

I went looking and it seems like OP isn’t the only one this is affecting. I found this under Pixel Phone Help: “The new material design changes are causing me seizures” dated from September 19, 2021.

This issue needs to be fixed asap.

I don’t know if this will help everything, but you can disable animations if you go to Settings-> Accessibility -> Visibility enhancements -> Remove animations. That will at least remove SOME of the animations.

Just tried the ‘turning off animations’ option and frick, it actually made the flash intensity worse. Before it be kind of a smooth fading transition where the flash was a second or two longer

But if you remove the animation, it makes the intensity of the flash so so so much worse.

Incidentally for people who have no idea how to turn off automatic updates (like me, until a few seconds ago):

Enable developer options by tapping on the build number in “about phone” a bunch of times.

Go to developer options and turn off “automatic system updates”.

Real cool that these people actively hide system settings from you.

I had a discord message with the person who left these tags and I want to make this clear: The stance I took an issue with wasn't "We shouldln't be making media with cultural appropriation". It was the "There is no excuse for not knowing what has been stolen from other cultures" stance. People can quite easily just not know things. That's normal. People have different knowledge bases, and it's not reasonable to be upset about people not knowing things.
