He nodded in response to her, then quickly observing who he was facing and what he had to work with. It appeared to be only a dozen shadows with some soldier heartless. However, there was one other he didn’t recognize. It was similar to a wyvern but this one seemed a bit larger and its color a mix of an odd black and purple. He didn’t have time to think longer however, the forward line of Shadow’s charging at him.

Instinctively he leaped over the front, slashing at the two soldiers that followed the lead while the Shadows then instantly fell into the ground, circling about his position. Breathing firmly he corrected his stance and began to quicken his attacks as the creatures lashed out at him. However, even with their effort, he notice the strange wyvern like heartless remained behind… Observing from a distance.

“Ahh!” He screamed in pain as while he was looking at the odd creature in the distance one of the soldiers had landed a firm blow on his back. He slid back, using the momentum and ‘anger’ to take down a couple of the shadows in that direction. He knew he couldn’t actually feel but just as any difficult fight he couldn’t help but have something sturr in him. “You holding out?” He realized he had been so focused he’d forgotten about the girl as he looked to her direction.

“I’m doing fine..! Take care of yourself..!”

With only a few slight waves of her fingers, moments after a bright pink light would heal the wound on his back. A few more gestures and a barrier of purple shields surrounded him to act as a defensive barrier from the attacks.

“Those things are gonna keep showing up until you get rid of that pack leader. I’m betting it’s that thing being passive in the distance. The sooner you get rid of em’ the sooner we can keep going!”

Roxas nodded when he was forced to dodge a row of incoming attacks. He needed an opening. The strange heartless had obvious skills above the rest--even enough so that he appeared to be leading the group some how. But the groups on the front were to held together for him to charge up right now--not without risking the rest charging at the girl while he attacked it. But soon the moment came. As the rest were thinning he noticed the big one had flown in a ways closer, enough so that he could probably get enough hits to draw it completely in the fight without the others leaving his reach. He charged up he attack and swung out. However just as he did the creature made a massive backflip--sending Roxas flying back into the rock side. He coughed from the impact, barely able to stand as a stream of blood filled part of his vision. Even a cure would only reduce the pain, but he had to stay in the fight. Running wasn't an option at the moment. "That things tough" he resummoned his key with another cough, moving just in front of the girl as to stop any close attacks on her from the others.

Roxas rolled his eyes at Lezaeus response to the cat, more or less agreeing with him. But still in the past he had notice that the cat did help him. And while his riddles were confusing, he was able to figure them out for the most part… Given enough time. “Maybe we should just listen.” He spoke up but also biting his tongue at the same time. “I don’t know I just have feeling he might help.” He shrugged.

The cat looks delighted, pink paws gently clapping while it does a loop-de-loop in mid air.

Lexaeus just looks disgusted, but Roxas is the one leading the mission. If he wants to hear the cat out, then that’s what’s going to happen apparently. He sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose, shaking his head slowly.

“Fine, you talk to it then.” He dismisses, and the cat drapes itself across Roxas’s shoulders.

Roxas should have expected the cat to come in front him to speak but the abruptness caught him off guard as he stumbled back a step or too. "Mmmm yes." The cat smiled as its head spun around a full 360. "I thought I recognized you."

"What was it you wanted?" Roxas bit his lip to ask knowing some riddle would follow.

"Oh nothing of much interest." He laughed. "Just that some tea might do you some good--i hear the tea today is especially dark." And with the final word the cat vanished. Roxas gasped to try and make sense of it or ask another question to help narrow it down but the cat was gone with a echoing laugh.

"Creepy cat..." He mumbled to himself before looking up to Lezaeus. "Any idea what that meant?"

With a final slash the last of the creature vanished. Roxas had to use everything within him to finish them off with his head pounding like that. Luckily Demyx appeared to be a lot more helpful then he first would have guessed. He stood for a moment to catch his breath, a small drop of blood falling from his forehead. “If we leave the heartless here then people could get hurt.” He straightened–keyblade vanishing as he did so. “Luckily though I think that was all of them.” He smiled turning to face Demyx. “I think I’ll be off my board for bit anyway. You lead the way.”

“Here.” Demyx summoned a trickle of water to clean away the blood. "Sorry if it stings.“ It was long ingrained in him never to let an open wound, no matter how small, bleed freely for long. Of course, there were no sharks here to worry about but old habits died hard. "You’ve got a point about the Heartless, I guess. I just don’t like fighting when I don’t have to.” He led the way down the path, following the scent of the salty water.

Finally, his bloots sank into soft, white sand. The roar of the ocean called out to him, as if welcoming him home. A smile spread across his lips as he hurried down as close to the water as he could without actually getting in. It felt so good just to be near the ocean.

“Now this is a vacation!” he said happily, scooping up a handful of water and splashing it over the lines on the side of his neck that had once been gills.

Roxas sat back in the sand relaxing by the water. It was strange. The cool waves and the echoing sound felt so familiar despite him never seeing one before. But he ignored the feeling: glad to have some time to allow his head to settle from the fall from earlier. He'd hope days like this came more often in the future.

Sorry for my slight in activeness.

I have finals this week and have had projects the last few so I ran out of time to be on. But its all settling so I'm back.

Roxas leaped back at the sight of the strange and huge smile beside the man. The eyes that floated above it were similar to that of a cat but about five times larger. “What the heck!?” He blabbered out as the smile formed into a odd colored cat laughing at his reaction and finding its way to float just in front of the two.

“No.”

Lexaeus began waving his hands at the cat, trying to shoo it away.

“No, Cheshire, away with you! No one wants or needs your guidance–”

The cat, pink with magenta stripes, lounges in mid air between the two Nobodies. His head spins around slowly to look at them both without concern, actually popping off at one point much to Lexaeus’s dismay.

“If you’re so sure, perhaps I’ll keep it to myself!” The cat titters. “But you may wish for it soon enough. What do you lose for listening?”

“My sanity,” Lexaeus quipped, and waved a hand through the cat now. “And everyone else’s for that matter. Be gone.”

Roxas leaped in shock slightly– surprised she heard his comment. None the less he still wasn’t sure why the name seemed so familiar. However before he could being up another question–a group of heartless had yet again revealed itself. Instantly his key appeared in hand as he stepped forward in a battle position. “Stay behind me!” He yelled. So far it seemed to only be a large group of shadows. But he knew it was best not to assume.

“You be careful too y’know! Never underestimate them.”

Talia commented as she got safely behind him, however this wasn’t going to stop her from trying to help too. The least she could do was use healing and defensive magic for him while she was still trying to control the elemental ones.

“I’ll do my best to cover you from back here, can’t have you getting hurt after you helped me out back there.”

Roxas got to his feet as quickly as he could. Though, the hit had made his vision a bit blurred. Still he knew heartless without the need for to much detail. And so with the clones Demyx had created a moment before, he used the time to summon his key blade launching himself at the mindless beasts.

A quick sweep took a small group from behind to start off his assault. It appeared Demyx was keeping a distance with his clones. Roxas just hoped his clones to keep the monsters in a suitable battle ground. However, added to his injury, the time he was analysis of the area lead to a clear hit to his back. He held his breath as he slid back. His form was sloppy: most likely due to the hit on the head. Still, vacation or not he figured Saix would disapprove of them letting the heartless getting away. “Come on! We can’t just let them get away!” He yelled back with a firm thrust.

“But it’s our day off!” Demyx moaned again. “We don’t even have to collect hearts today!” He just wanted to get down to the ocean, where he could almost feel like himself and shake off everything that had happened since their last vacation day. Roxas clearly disagreed. That was the only reason Demyx kept playing to keep his water clones spinning between the Heartless and the Nobodies.

“C’mon, man,” Demyx tried again. Maybe a different tack would get them both away from all that icky combat. “You’re hurt. You’re not in any condition to fight this many. So let’s just get down to the beach so you can rest up and stuff, okay?”

It somehow didn’t seem to fit–though, with him generally taking the lead in all previous missions he figured he had little reason to be surprised. Instead he nodded in understanding as the dark corridor soon came to reveal the strange massive table as the two stepped into the world. They appeared so small when looking at the rooms chairs and objects. Roxas had only been here a couple of times previous and still this place made him so confused. “Am I the only one who doesn’t like this place?” He looked up at the massive man.

“Not in the least.”

Lexaeus actually snorted, something that sounded half like laughter.

“The number of times I’ve been on a mission in Wonderland, and the number of Wonderland missions I’ve been on that have gone FUBAR, are almost the same number.” He claimed while lifting a teapot and gently shaking it. Something clinked within the ceramic, but when he lifted the lid he only found a spoon of all things.

“My advice to you is not to eat anything you don’t absolutely have to, and avoid the locals as much as you can…”

That was, of course, when one of the locals found them.

The Cheshire Cat’s disembodied smile floating in front of Lexaeus’s stern face, mouthing the same words he spoke, was probably a strange image, but the Stalwart wasn’t at the right angle to see it.

“All of them follow some strange logic that none of us have been able to figure out yet, and the Queen of Hearts is the one you must-… What are you staring at?”

Roxas wondered into the castle overlook to see the faint glow of the moon shining in through the window. All around the couches were empty except for the obvious Demyx. That and Saix standing looking out at the moon. The only other person in the room was Lexaeus–Roxas’ partner for the mission today: Wonderland. “Lexaeus,” Roxas spoke up, nervous seeing as last time they were partnered Roxas got a serious slam in the head, “you ready to head out?”

Lexaeus moved slowly as if he was trying not to startle Roxas by making a sudden movement. Despite looking rather dense, Lexaeus was more than aware enough to realize that their last encounter likely rattled the boy.

He glanced towards Saix, the Diviner not acknowledging the sound of young Nobody’s voice but clearly aware of everyone in the room, and nodded. “You will be leading.” He replied quietly. “There should be little trouble. It is a scouting mission…”

In other words, Lexaeus had no plans to act violently, towards Roxas or anything else for that matter. It should be safe.

He was so used to everyone keeping their distance that he was ecstatic to not have to be alone for once. “You’re all right, Roxas,” he said, beaming. “And for what it’s worth, I didn’t mean to split on you in Olympus. It’s just… a world that judges you on how strong you are in combat? No thanks!” He’d only have been dead weight there. More so than usual.

He shook it off and started down the street. “Okay, the beach is just down this way.” He didn’t spend a ton of time on this world, but he could always find his way back to water.

Roxas took off in the direction Demyx was headed on his board. Staying just behind the man due to constant kick and heel flips combines with slight maneuvers around the terrain of the city. “Hey watch this!” The words of dread slipped out just as roxas hit the end of a stair case. The board spinning about two axises at once has yet to finish their rotations as the ground came down to his feet. What’s more: just seconds after hitting the ground, heartless had to suddenly appear near the two. Their eyes starred down at Roxas as his head pounded from the shock of the fall.

Demyx was on the point of trying to help the younger blonde up, but he fell back with a squeal when the Heartless materialized. His every instinct was to run away and let Roxas handle them, but Roxas had hit his head on the pavement. “Come on, it’s our day off,” he whined at the mindless creatures. But Arpeggio did materialize in his hand, and a single chord summoned his water clones to chase the Heartless away. They didn’t have to actually defeat them this time, right?

There was that name again. Roxas was certain he’d never heard Merlin before or new anyone of that title… Yet somehow of seemed so familiar. “Merlin…” He more or less stuttered the name out as they both began walking–Roxas allowing her to lead the two back seeing he didn’t even know where back was. For some reason that name just dug at him. His mind lost for a moment.

“Yeah, Merlin. He’s an amazing wizard who had been in this town for a very long time. He’s my mentor, I want to be as helpful as I can be so I decided to take a magic to help everyone out. I’ve always been told not to go outside the city and now I know why.”

Myde’s face turned pink. He’d only been trying to help, and ended up making himself look like a total hammerhead. And to top it off, he’d compared his beautiful home ocean to flipping Agrabah, the world he got sent to whenever he really screwed up. Which was a lot.

He was still beating himself up when Roxas’s words sank in. “Wait, you’d wanna spend your vacation day with me? I mean, sure! It’s all right! But… really?” Most of the Organization couldn’t stand him. As grateful as he was for the company, he couldn’t help questioning it a little bit.

Roxas had his foot flipping his board about as he answered, “I mean sure.” He wasn’t sure how else to respond. Normally Demyx was someone he wished to avoid–not cause he disliked him however. It was mostly due to the fact last time they were paired for a mission Demyx balled on him as he had to fight in Olympus on his own. But as for vacation time: he really wouldn’t mind having someone to talk too.

“Er… I’m Roxas…” Roxas responded with slight nervousness. He hadn’t expect her to be so talkitave. But he had come this far. “Out of curiosity…” He spat out one last question before the two began walking away, “what were you doing this far out? Do others come out this far?” Instantly he bit his tongue. As if the sudden spree of questions wasn’t obvious enough, he remembered he had yet to find any sort of town. As to were to lead the girl he had no clue…

“Um..I’m not actually allowed to be out here. But, I couldn’t just let those things get into the city. I was by myself when they just appeared and began chasing me. I thought I could escape them long enough and that obviously didn’t work. Gosh if Merlin or the others find out they’re definitely going to be mad.”
