Hi. I'm Keir. Ryan if you're being formal, nurse Ryan if you're trying too hard. I'm writing this intro against my will, so don't get used to consistent posts.

I work under the oncology wing, too much shite to deal with on a daily basis.

I might be a nurse, but don't get it twisted, I'm not here to be your mate. I keep my head down, do the job, and get on with it.

I'm not friendly, I'm not chatty, and l've no patience for small talk. If you're looking for a warm welcome, you're barking up the wrong tree. Best to leave me be and carry on, yeah?

• He's literally never had a meaningful relationship in his life. I think his only friend is Vernon. Nonius can't stand this guy.

“ ..Be more mindful next time, m’kay? Here, ” He reaches over, patting Keir gently on the shoulder before reaching for the broken pieces on the ground. “ I’ll pick up the mess, and you could restart the dish. Does that sound good? ”

"my treat for ruining dinner tonight" he says while running a hand down Shepards back, it's almost like he dropped the dish on purpose..

Keir has had A DAY. First a patient threw up on him, which promptly had him throwing up in the washroom and needing new scrubs, then Wilson berated him for being in the washroom for over thirty minutes (puking his guts out) and now there were stickers on his bump. He doesn't even remember how they got there. He just woke up from a nap in the break room and there they were. This has to be assault.. But unfortunately the day isn't even near over and he still has to deal with stupid patients and worse still, House.

So it's no surprise that when you came up to him he snapped at you. It's never really a surprise when it comes to him but he's usually more collected.

“Well?? Spit it out then, fer fuck’s sake. What’s got ye standin there gawpin like an idiot? It better be somethin actually important.” He hisses.

Adam stood there awkwardly, as he fiddles with the few bags of gummies in his arms that he managed to snag from the vending machine in the room. He had his blanket over his shoulder but it still pools around his feet with how long it is, as Adam looked about to sneak into the room..

"oh- uhm... You want some alone time..? Okay? Yeah- clearly..." Adam mutters, mostly to himself. Giving a sheepish little smile. "I'll leave- I jus went to grab the peanuts, anyways—"

Keir looks shocked, then embarrassed. He could've sworn he was talking to a coworker.. no matter though, no taking back swearing at a kid.

"Yer not where yer meant to be."

"I remember seeing a nut allergy on your file, so no peanuts. Did you want anything else?"

Adam hums as he hands him a bag of gummies. Pouting a lil when mentioned he couldn't have some peanuts.. "wellllllllll...." Adam grumbles, as he thinks. "Chocolate?"

He huffs. Of course. Give a kid an inch and they try to take a mile.

"No. You said you were hungry. Chocolate isn't for hungry kids."

"awwwwwwwww" Adam whines, as he sulks on the couch near by dramatically. "I either want peanuts or chocolate. Maybe ice cream. Buh I duh wanna eat anything else" he huffed with his arms crossed, pouting even more... Then he looked up at them with those sad puppy eyes. "Pleaseeeeeee, could I have chocolate...?" (◍•́⁠︿⁠•̀◍)

"No Adam. Hungry kids eat real food. Not sweets. Why don't we go to the cafeteria, have you eat some real food and then get you a sweet?"

Thorne pauses for a moment from slight shock. Her fidgety hand stills for a moment and she considers her words for a beat before speaking.

“Oh sorry dear, I just needed some papers from you. I can come back later if you wish?”

Though his tone made her anxious that she’d made some sort of slight against she did try not to take it entirely personally. Her fingers start again to drum against her clipboard.

“Did need a rest? I can try to move your schedule around or take some of your busy work if it helps?”

He hides his face in his hands, shoulders curling inward as a quiet sniffle slips out despite his obvious effort to stop it. His breathing turns uneven for a moment, stubborn pride warring with the humiliating sting behind his eyes. And if Thorne dared point out that he was crying, even a little, she’d probably regret it immediately.

He groans and pulls himself together, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand.

"What papers?"
