My 2025 in Fics (A03 Wrapped)
Thanks to the fabulous and talented @khorazir for tagging me to wrap up my year of writing.
I exclusively wrote for Dead Boy Detectives and even though I had a big writing slump I managed to keep writing.
Technically the year started and ended with Christmas fics!!!
The Christmas Wish Debacle of 2025
Charles accidentally wishes the Dead Boy Detectives alive, making this Christmas season very special indeed. Festive shenanigans ensue.

This was such a fun write - I enjoyed the structure a lot!
Twin Flame
Charles has an epiphany during his sister's end of term performance, falling head over heels for ballet dancer Edwin.

Basically punk! Charles and ballet dancer! Edwin having an epic love affair. I'm really proud of this story and I love the characters deeply. Features Clementine Rowland as probably one of my favourite OC's ever - she's just too cool.
And I will come again, my Love
Edwin's voice comes to him like a whisper on the breeze.
âTill aâ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wiâ the sun;
I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands oâ life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only luve!
And fare thee weel awhile!
And I will come again, my luve,
Though it were ten thousand mile.â
He cries then, clinging to the branches of the tree outside Edwin's window, for their lost future, for everything that wasn't and would never be. When his tears finally run dry, he climbs down the tree and strips by the pond.
âYou can't just use our pond whenever the fancy takes you,â Edwin says primly, playful indignation in his tone.
âCan't I?â Charles says, and dives in. The water is freezing, a chilling embrace.

The shortest story this year, but it packs a punch. WW1 Edwin and Charles, posh boy and factory worker. I felt inspired and interrupted my big bang to churn this out in record time. Basically wrote itself. Very proud of the ending.
Lost and Found
Assistant to Death, Edwin Payne, fucked up on his first solo job: firstly, he arrived too early, and then the charismatic boy who was dying stubbornly refused to go to his afterlife. Being transferred to the Lost and Found's data processing department was humiliating enough, but he realised Death must be having a laugh at his expense when he met his assigned training partner...
Or: Edwin and Charles become reluctant colleagues, escape their boring desk jobs to found a Detective Agency and stumble into a hell of a lot of trouble along the wayâŠ

I struggled so much with this story. It felt so complicated and I spent too long on chapters. I'm glad I battled through and I'm satisfied with it, but at times I felt like giving up...
Charles Rowland's Christmas Fling and The Very Gay Case of Stupid Drunken Mistakes
Charles meets the bored and infuriatingly haughty son of Baronet Payne while working at Ashton Palace Hotel during the winter holidays. Edwin is looking for a distraction, which Charles, drawn towards his prickly attitude and good looks, is happy to provide.
Charles could just be enjoying a heated Christmas fling, if only the hotel wasn't haunted...

I needed something fun after finishing Lost and Found and this is a lot of fun! Sexy fun, which is the best đ
