Mack: And I never said I was relinquishing my position. The rules are the rules and while I'm not typically the kind to always follow the rules, I agree with this one, wholeheartedly. Mack: So either you stop running and hiding from me so we can start honoring our agreement from last year, come up with a new one, or I take it above both our heads and get someone from staff involved and I'll fight to have you removed as captain completely.

JESSE: on a scale of one to ten, how morally wrong would it be to put out a hit on my co-captain? JESSE: not a death hit, but some sort of minor inconvenience that would hinder them from continuing to bother me.

JESSE: when you have a spare second, there's something i'd like to discuss with you.
Mack: he disappears before I even have a chance to think about grabbing my bag, that's running. Mack: honey, unprofessional is acting like a scared little kid who won't have a conversation and is instead avoiding me. confronting my co-captain for being someone who doesn't communicate and does the above, when I know he can't run away from me is called accountability and it's not like VA has ever been above public humiliation.
JESSE: i just happen to walk swiftly sometimes. wasn't aware that was criminal activity. JESSE: i never signed up for co-captains. JESSE: i had the understanding that it would be me, and me alone in charge this year. JESSE: what conversation needs to be had? i have this all under control. you are more than welcome to take a step back, enjoy your retirement.
MARLEY: oh? i hadn't heard that one, actually... but i guess i'll keep my eyes out for anyone handing out pamphlets. MARLEY: thank you, jesse. i appreciate that. MARLEY: do you find the opt up in roxanne from moulin rouge the musical to be accessible? it's in a similar tessitura.
JESSE: it could just be a rumor, but i figure a heads-up doesn't hurt. JESSE: i think i'd need to become more familiar with your range before i could answer that. maybe we should meet up, you could sing the number for me? JESSE: because "accessible" is definitely a circumstantial case here, i think.
KITTY: eh, it's not your fault they're a bunch of babies. KITTY: honestly you should be getting paid. or at least have a co-director credit.
JESSE: you make a lot of good points. we should talk. JESSE: have you ever considered working in star management? i think you have a lot of potential there.
BRITTANY: you kind of talk like you're from a different time. and so, like, have you seen that movie the curious case of benjamin button? BRITTANY: how he ages backwards? BRITTANY: i am semi convinced you were born an old man/grandpa, and you are aging backwards, so you're like, maybe in your 70s but you look 21 because that's how the condition works. you age backwards.
JESSE: i do? JESSE: i didn't think i spoke in any particularly unusual way. JESSE: well, obviously i enunciate far more clearly than a lot of people, but that's just a result of my training. JESSE: i haven't seen it, but i've heard of it. JESSE: and, as far as i know, i don't have that condition. JESSE: i don't think anyone does, i'm pretty sure they just made it up. JESSE: i think i just look 21 because i am 21.
RACHEL: i don't know if this will make sense, and let me know if it doesn't and i'll try to clarify - RACHEL: i just don't want to sneak around anymore, i don't want to hide us away, because we aren't doing anything wrong. our feelings for each other existed long before i even thought about leaving new directions, and i know what we have is real. RACHEL: and as much as i care about tina (reminder: she is my friend from new directions who now hates me) i'm realizing...that i don't really care if she thinks i left new directions to be with you. RACHEL: and i don't really care what nancy thinks, if she thinks anything. RACHEL: what i do care about is you. and the fact is, i'm proud to be with you. i don't want to pretend to my friends that i'm single or to anyone else. RACHEL: of course, if you still feel like you want to keep it on the down low, i will respect that, but this is just how i've been feeling.
JESSE: are you sure? JESSE: honestly, i'm mostly just following your lead with this whole thing. JESSE: i don't mind keeping it secret, if that's what you need for now. JESSE: i just want to be with you. JESSE: but i do think taking it public would certainly be easier. JESSE: besides- we'll always have to deal with people talking about us. that's just one of the side effects of being a star. JESSE: maybe we could start things off with a soft launch. test the waters?
Mack: Oh, so this isn't the co-captain who keeps running out of rehearsals like a coward? Maybe I'll just have to make a scene at our next rehearsal, find out why I'm working with a coward instead of a person. Air my concerns about his inability to communicate in front of all of Vocal Adrenaline. I'm sure they'd love that tea.
Jesse: no clue what you're talking about, but if this is in regards to Jesse St. James, he's never "run out" of rehearsals. he's always stayed the entire allotted time, and does enormous amounts of preparation and practice in between meetings. Jesse: and it would be incredibly unprofessional to bother that hardworking team with whatever wacky personal grievances you've made up about this triple threat in your head.

RACHEL: it wouldn't, but i wouldn't be able to hold your hand, and i'm really going to want to hold your hand. RACHEL: you wouldn't sully anything, it would just be...us being allowed to be together, like together together, in front of people.
