my { fragile } god, my universe ໒꒱ ‧₊˚
so the rocket mizi crashed made her lose her beauty
which was something she hated, since it kept ruining her relationships (at least, it was what she blamed for it…)
and the fire also made till lose his voice
which was what had him taken by the segyein in the first place
you've never found the witch more beautiful
''i wasted those years'' who cares. you lived the only life you could've lived in those moments
realizing the concept for the fic i wrote earlier this year was actually perfect for ivantill.........

god. thinking about mizi's relationship with love and control. because arguably she WAS loved by the people around her. people adored her and saved her again and again, but not in a way that respected her agency.
this love came in the form of others making decisions for her, imposing their will on her. her guardian couldn't understand her needs. sua chose to sacrifice herself. till never saw her true self beyond her bright and bubbly facade. and now hyuna has just thrown her life away to save the man who has wronged them both.
so yeah, why wouldn't she burn it all down and take everyone down with her? including luka, who hyuna has just sacrificed herself to save, and including the rebels, who have just killed her? why not, when everyone around her has been making the decisions for her and showing time and time again that they think their lives don't matter?
i feel like even stronger than the grief of losing everyone is the resentment that they chose to die. even as she grieves for hyuna she can't find it in her to show mercy to the man she just sacrificed her life to save. because how dare they ask her to forgive, to live on with strength, when they couldn't do the same? what gives them the right to make that choice for her?
in the end what it came down to was more than a simple desire to survive. it was a desire for control. it's her turn to make the decisions now, to take back power. and saving till is part of this! finally, she can be the one to say save him. choose him and not me. finally she can be the one who chooses to go.
just. god. mizi, man
God forbid women do anything
I just think it's really beautiful how, for such a bleak setting, ultimately Till is alive only thanks to the intervention of those who loved him. Ivan sacrificed himself to keep him alive in their round, Mizi saved him last second despite wanting to blow up the stage.
His new short haircut also seems to be a throwback to his mother who's the main reason he even got to experience love and affection under such awful circumstances in the first place 🥹
Basically, he's part of a cycle of love and affection throughout the story and he perpetuates it by saving those kids the aliens created using his and his friends' genes.
I just really appreciate how despite all the tragedy and ugliness of the world they live in, and the failure to completely disrupt the status quo, there is still this underlying hopeful feeling that survives thanks to his own survival.
To me, this is the thesis of Alien Stage. For each duo and in more ways than one.
For Ivantill, Till might never have loved Ivan romantically, though we do have indications he may have. Either way, he didn’t love Ivan the same way Ivan loved Till. He didn’t obsess over Ivan the way Ivan did Till. He didn’t want to accept Ivan’s sacrifice the way Mizi accepted Sua’s sacrifice, but Ivan forced it on him. Till’s love was different from Ivan’s, but does that really matter? It was love, too.
Interestingly enough, Luka has both Hyuna and Hyunwoo’s hearts. Despite everything, Luka lived. Hyunwoo initiated the fight between them, and Luka reacted violently, which led to Hyunwoo’s death. Luka was shot at, and Hyuna took the bullet, killing her. Luka has lived in spite of everything because of their deaths. Hyuna loved Luka, but her sacrifice was one made partially out of revenge. Luka may have loved Hyunwoo when they were friends as kids, but he still killed him. He may have loved Hyuna, but he still hurt her. But it was love. Nonetheless, it was love.
And, of course, Mizisua. Mizi didn’t love Sua in a way that propelled her to sacrifice herself for Sua. Sua’s love was the kind that made it impossible for Sua to live without Mizi. If you recall their mental strengths, Sua’s is extremely low while Mizi’s is strong. Mizi knew Sua couldn’t handle if Mizi died. Mizi underestimated just how much Sua’s death would ruin her, but she was willing to bear it so Sua didn’t have to bear losing her. She might not have been willing to die for Sua, but she gave Sua a gift, too. She let Sua give Mizi her sacrifice. And that’s love. That was love.
Even Mizi’s monologue about Hyuna is riddled with the weight of this theme.
Mizi is bitter because Hyuna fought for so long for humanity—a wider concept than Mizi can perhaps even comprehend, having lived isolated and then in ANAKT her whole life. She fought for something that seemed to mean so much, and then she threw it all away for Luka, a man who Mizi seems to loathe and whom she thought Hyuna loathed too.
Mizi is angry because Hyuna’s love, Hyuna’s sense of justice, required sacrifice. For humans, and for Luka. Mizi’s lingering bitterness over Sua’s decision transfers to Hyuna, because why? Why does your love demand you to die for it for nothing?
But it wasn’t for nothing.
Because even though Sua sacrificed herself for Mizi, and Hyuna risked her life to save her and then died for Luka only ended in Mizi’s death by her own hand—Luka either dying and being replaced or continuing to be imprisoned by the aliens for entertainment—
Even if Hyuna’s love for humanity and belief in their freedom only led to children in museum displays rather than stages—
It mattered.
Mizi still destroyed the competition that ruined her and Sua. She still cemented Ivan’s sacrifice by saving Till.
Hyuna still got her justice. She stopped running. Even if Luka remains trapped, his life still means something.
They all loved each other and the world differently, but it was love too. And it’s never for nothing.
made this and cried about it after btw
Anyone notice the floor in the museum? The tournament bracket, with Till at the top as the last survivor 😭🥹💚
Sua mimicking the stabbing and suffocating sensation that comes from getting shot in the neck and quite literally choking on your own blood before she has to go on stage, knowing she has to prepare for the pain so that her performance will be flawless, so she won't show fear will haunt me for at least several lifetimes, oh my baby..
