I have been HORRIFICALLY confused by this Ansem question for weeks, please help me when you have the time/if u feel like it

We know that Mickey Mouse definitely met Ansem the Wise. It's confirmed in multiple sources.

What I want to know is, why is there an Ansem Report from KH1, written by Ansem Seeker of Darkness, about meeting Mickey Mouse? Why?

Did Mickey visit Radiant Garden multiple times, and meet both Ansems there? Did Ansem SoD get really confused? If Mickey only visited once then why did Ansem SoD write about it the meeting as though it had happened the same day he wrote about it? !????

I kind of hope that Mickey visited multiple times because (a) I dread how confusing the real answer might be otherwise and (b) I can think of 3 reasons from the top of my head that Mickey meeting Ansem SoD in Radiant Garden has great comedy potential

HAHA, oh yes, this is a famous example of something that is just genuinely bad writing. Or rather, it was good writing until Nomura decided to retcon Ansem into being two people, SoD and The Wise.

The true answer is that it's written that way bc at the time of writing, SoD was the only Ansem. He probably hasn't found a good way of addressing it in a way that doesn't completely break it - the closest we have is Xehanort seeing Mickey speak to ATW during that KH2 flashback. We're most likely supposed to assume this was the catalyst for Xehanort writing about it (as this is the scene Mickey presents as him recalling Xehanort and what he looked like, implying this is one of the only times Mickey ever saw Apprentice Xehanort directly).

I do sincerely believe Mickey and ATW have spoken on multiple occasions; they seem comfortable and familiar with each other in a way I think wouldn't form from just one conversation.

Additionally, the way the dialogue is constructed implies more than one meeting between the two:

It's possible Xehanort was eavesdropping on their very first meeting without ATW or Mickey's knowledge and documented it under Ansem’s name for... the same reason he documented everything under Ansem’s name. Which is... idk man, they never actually explain that bit! Isn't that wild? Like, we never get a clear-cut answer as to why Xehanort took Ansem’s name, though it's implied it was to be petty or possibly throw people searching for him off his trail. Or both. Probably both.

THAT SAID, my personal headcanon is that Xehanort was undergoing an ongoing slip into delusional thinking and starts actually viewing himself as Ansem the Wise and ATW as an imposter (also explaining the DDD opening scene where he insists Braig call him Ansem right before shanking him in the heart) and the reports reflect this delusion as he slips further into the role.

I personally think that's more fun.
