I really like this frame from kedarui mv 'femme fatale' (art by yasutatsu_ on twitter) and so i heavily referenced it to make mizisua karma art, to which i tried to replicate the vivimeng style. i plan on doing more from other frames of this specific mv.

Well, I know the dissonance between reality and fantasy is the most on-the-nose thing about Mizi and Sua's dynamic, but the way ZOMST is meant to show Mizisua's relationship in a more realistic setting makes their falling out that much more inevitable... Mizi and Sua were physically isolated to a bubble before in Anakt garden, where they met, where Mizi ran to with the hope of meeting people like her, where they had each other, and that was all they needed. They were human cattle disconnected from the society we know and all their culture and the outside world was harsh and cruel, so they had each other for comfort; you can see the minute they had to face reality, everything fell apart.

That is paralleled in ZOMST with how they meet, Sua offering to be Mizi's comfort in the harsh world they lived in, insisting Mizi can depend on her and they can share each other's feelings, but in that setting it wasn't like Sua orchestrated the fallout so the consequences wouldn't burn her too (By planning her death); in the real world they just cant function like that in their own little bubble for long especially with the type of stress Mizi had to take on. alone. Reality and the burden of that got to them first, and it left Sua alone and miserably desperate without Mizi by her side. The abandonment she inflicted on Mizi in ALNST is almost mirrored in that way, and what exactly she would do to not have to live without Mizi is shown right there. In the Patreon, Vivinos described Mizi as someone who could resolve to "stand up on her own two feet instead of crumbling down, despite falling into a state of shock after discovering the horrifying truths of reality" when Sua died, even if it left her miserable. She started to make decisions for herself, but Sua obviously isn't as durable if she has to live without Mizi

Mizi's mixed reaction and feelings about her and Sua's dynamic is so interesting cause she for sure feels a sense of guilt when she uses Sua like that or hits her, and then Sua just forgives her all the time without a reprimand, but she can't help indulging in the comfort of being with Sua like this and having the burden taken off her by someone who can take it, Karma Mizi is especially interesting because her self-loathing reaches such high peaks for allowing Sua to do that for her and allowing Sua to placate her all the time to the point it looks like Mizi just used her, and all that stuff. Sooo many instances of this cycle. I like how ZOMST breaks down Sua's self-destructive tendencies and controlling demeanor very clearly because, although ZOMST Mizi eventually gives in to Sua's comfort, she's clearly hesitant about conceding to Sua when she's so passive and just wants Mizi to rely on her while insisting that she can embrace everything about Mizi if she just lets her in... and Mizi does... and it doesn't fix them; it's just indulgence in escapism for the moment. When they're adults, it clearly falls apart around them because they can't stay in the same bubble they had when they were kids

i just got more curious about how this scene played out in their reality. The same placation and means Sua goes through to have Sua use her for comfort or confide in her do not work on Mizi this time when she presses Mizi too hard after they grew apart this much. Even though Mizi clearly still loved her and stayed by Sua's side, I think Mizi regressed to her guarded, mistrustful demeanor again for that moment and literally and metaphorically "ran away" from Sua, the conflict, and their bond.

I'm not sure if she lost trust in *Sua* particularly after how distant they became and how traumatized she was by the industry and how alone she felt in it, and having to keep up a facade for Sua too at first so she wouldn't worry her, but this parallels how much Mizi loathed herself as a child in the comic, "Ache". She couldn't let Sua in back then because she couldn't trust her. She saw Sua's sweet words as unsettling; her gradually taking away the responsibility and agency felt nothing like comfort; it was probably like Sua didn't see her as her own person, and painted Mizi as this "can do no wrong" girl who just needs Sua to show her how happy she can be.

I already thought Sua was taking away Mizi's little show of agency over her own body by just taking her cigarette was the trigger because Sua was callously exerting control while not properly negotiating and confronting how much Mizi was suffering when Mizi was resorting to that kind of coping mechanism; they were choosing to work around and avoid it before Mizi blew up. And thats probably it but this also shows their relationship is falling apart under a toxic and crumbling foundation- it's evident just how much they are used to being in this same position but at some point, Mizi can't keep relying on the same old tactics, and her stress with no outlet gets to her. Mizi hadn't learned how to process her own feelings, self-regulate, and confront them, so she takes her frustration and resentment out on Sua and can't bear to see the aftermath. When she refuses the comfort and escapism, she can't accept it because she feels so guilty, and she hasn't outgrown how she used to be as a kid

when I see the backstory and the reason they grew so close, I think this scene is showing me the consequence of Sua's enabling, their mutual enabling that led to their big fight and led to Mizi pushing her away, which would've probably been for good if Sua didn't desperately bring Mizi back in and possess her in the way she did, but in that way, thats the "Good ending" in Sua's eyes. it's a fitting conclusion (And again parallels ALNST Mizi so well... when she grieves in the aftermath of Sua's death and abandonment and regresses back into that sad kid who just wanted her friends back, or when she was angry at Sua and regresses and immediately receives Sua's pampering and forgiveness unconditionally, it allows her to sink deeper, disregard Sua's pain for her own comfort at times, and then lose her as consequence for her own ignorance. But here, Sua always gets to stay with her in any way she can, rather than live in a world without her )

The dialogue of "Ache" is so good I really loved Mizi's emotions. I'd expect their upbringing to be like the co-dependent bond Mizisua had in ALNST, especially with this Mizi, who was, at the time, a child living with domestic abuse and thus had to rely on Sua for emotional support and a place to live.

Mizi pushed back against Sua so much here; in ALNST she sort of leaned into it for comfort, but this Mizi has so many rough edges before she allows herself to immediately latch onto someone. In ALNST, she latched onto the first person she saw that she connected with, and now she's too scared to heavily depend on anyone in this universe. And it reveals Sua's projection of the Mizi she loves and is obsessed with in comparison to the Mizi in front of her. Even when Sua tries to pacify Mizi, Mizi pushes her away and argues because she's thrown off by Sua's passivity and how obviously she's set on Mizi. Mizi's so self-loathing right then that she can't trust Sua's intentions, but she can't also understand why Sua is so intent on the good in her to the point where she'd allow Mizi to take and take from her, even remarking that she doesn't want to feel like she's being kept like some house pet, and thats why Sua's doing her all these favors.

Mizi immediately sees Sua's words as they are and it makes her uneasy to just... have the burden taken from her by someone she doesn't trust yet, Sua sees it as a challenge to prove her devotion is true

The way Sua IMMEDIATELY jumps to suggesting Mizi can assert herself and hit her however she likes shows me just how desperate Sua is, even to self-destructive means, to have Mizi. It's just emblematic of the way Sua's character understands love; it really doesn't hide how much Sua is desperate to keep Mizi even when she insists Mizi has control in the dynamic and she's doing it out of love (at least thats how it looks as a lonely child reaches out to another pained child before it becomes the tender and selfish possessiveness of the adult Sua)-- but I think in a way she still tends to show how she really disregards Mizi and that triggers Mizi's resistance, it feels like a mockery because she can't trust Sua here yet and Sua is endlessly seeing her with rose-tinted glasses, but in ALNST its because Mizi was heavily repressed and Sua didn't understand what she'd been through, she's just seeing the ideal of Mizi- two different situations, but the core of Sua's selfish and messed-up blind devotion leads to her need to control Mizi and coddle her, when she's really not seeing Mizi at all because she's fixated on how she's thought Mizi was for the longest time, how much she was comforted by Mizi's existence

(I like the detail of her warm gaze becoming more imploring in like a split second to show how needy Sua is, as she wants to control Mizi's perception so she doesn't go away)

. I think it was clear in My fragile god fading fast too, even though Sua let Mizi get comfort in feeling powerful over her-- they were enabling each other's bad habits and coping mechanisms. Sua was enabling Mizi because she knew she was a safe space for Mizi, the only comfort in the world that somehow unconditionally saw only the best in her and also accepted all her moments of violence and cruelty. It's because Sua loves like that that she embraces whatever Mizi gives her; she'd allow Mizi to do anything to her to stay together. Mind you, this obsession manifested itself in such a cruel and selfish form in ZOMST when Sua damns them to zombie stage just so they can be together.

this AU is very good at showing Sua's enabling and toxic love. I really liked it when Sua went on and on about how much Mizi was being too hard on herself, and that Sua was the one who understood her best. ...Mizi just doesn't see herself the way Sua sees her, and she could prove to Mizi that she could be her safe haven if she just let her in and let Sua comfort her... they could share each other's suffering. Mizi obviously wants connection; she wants the comfort and the acceptance. It wears down her guarded demeanor from there because she accepts Sua's offering, a route where she can escape herself and not have to confront anything, give control of her perception to Sua while taking in the comfort of Sua's unconditional embrace

The theme is so interesting, this is Sua's movie and her idea of a good ending, yeah, the idea of her thinking selfish love like this led her to her good ending because she kept Mizi by her side and embraced her wholly and unconditionally is evident, and in their backstory, it's easy to see why they were so dependent on each other, and Sua was so eager to become a zombie with Mizi; she's literally in love with the idea of being so connected to Mizi no matter what. Becoming distant when they were growing into adults killed her in that way; exerting control like that one more time by controlling their fate is something she's always done in both AUS. Again I like the focus on that aspect of her its so good
