I love patroclus (disclaimer; I haven’t read tsoa or played hades, I mean like the actual mythological figure, this is all out of my brain) because whenever he appears in the Iliad he’s just... great. I like his vibe, is what I’m saying.
Patroclus is exhausted and 150% done with Achilles melodramatic bullshit from the very beggining. Which makes a lot of sense because most stories pin them as childhood friends, Patroclus being a prince from somewhere who is sent to be Achilles buddy. Why is he sent away from his own kingdom you might ask? Well when he was like ten he might have accidentally murdered someone. Bonkers. He’s also supposed to be wise and older then Achilles by a few years so he was supposed to be a good role model, but like imagine being a good role model... for Achilles. Wonder Boy himself. By the Iliad Patroclus is just like... immune to this guys bullshit. Like he has given up.
If we’re going with the telling that Achilles went into hiding as a girl at Lycomedes court, I like to think that Patroclus went with him. and at that point I’m just imagining Patroclus being like “wow ur way too into this whole being a girl thing” and Achilles responding with “either challenge me to a fair fight in the ring so I can break ur fingers or stfu, I have to get dressed and go braid flowers into Laodamia’s hair”
Not to mention all of the things he actually does in the Iliad. Patroclus straight up looks a guy that’s bleeding out in the eye and goes “fuck off I have to go fuck my boyfriend go ask someone else to heal u or whatever” and then there’s the scene where Achilles goes “omg I love Bryseis more then life itself I might even marry her!!!!” And is met with the most unenthusiastic eye roll of all time from Patroclus. He’s just. So done. Like 10/10 man I feel you we all know a melodramatic gay that just never shuts the fuck up I understand
The sun began to rise, and we realized that the sun was coming up just exactly between the two actors. And again, it was a fluke. Well, it was kind of prepared for, but we were very lucky. And so the film is completely circular, that you start with a sunrise and you end with a sunrise.

was just Remembering how you’d be out with a friend and you’d each order a different cocktail and you’d ask “what’d you get?” and they’d read the description off the menu and you’d be like “ooh that sounds good” and then they’d say “try it!” and then you’d have a lil sip of their drink and they’d have a lil sip of your drink and you’d decide which one was best and you wouldn’t give each other a life-threatening respiratory infection
oh to have love like this ♡
