It was the sound of battle that drew Roxas to the area. A fight that apparently finished up as soon as he turned the corner.
Kris brought his giant key down on the creatureâs head, shattering it and sending a glowing heart flying up into the sky. He was breathing hard and had more scratches than heâd had before. âAnd⊠I think thatâs itâŠ. Great.â He let out a long sigh and leaned against his key, feeling the point digging into the dirt.
âNot badâ Roxas said with a approving nod. The kid would be a natural with some more practice. Roxas himself had struggled during his own forays into using magic and if he could make things easier for Kris then heâd do it.
Which means it was time for time for the not so nice part of using magic.
âAlright Krisâ Roxas said âI want you to keep doing that until you run out of magic. Itâs gonna suck but we need to know where your limit is right now. That and casting gets easier the more you do itâ
Kris tilted his head, but complied. After a few moments his eyebrows knit together and he started feeling light headed. âI UhâŠ.â He rubbed his hand against his forehead, fighting off a headache. âI think itâs doneâŠ.â He felt a little loopy, but kept his hand steady.
âCoolâ Roxas nodded approvingly âSo that sucky drained feeling? Thatâs called magical exhaustion and if you get like that Iâm a fight youâll probably get killed.â
Which had happened to him several times actually
âSo make sure to carry ethers on you at all times and be careful when casting healing magic. It zaps your magic faster than any other kind.â
Which was why Roxas was complete garbage at using cure magic and his style of fighting was âhit them hard and fast before they can hit youâ. Which sounded risky but actually got him results more often than not.
