Erika L. Sánchez, from “La Cueva”, Lessons on Expulsion
I often think about how citrus trees produce the most fruit when they’re near death and how the weight of it becomes so heavy that the limbs will break and collapse in on themselves and the fruit goes down with it and how it’s all left there to rot most of the time. It’s a beautiful analogy to when you pour so much of yourself into someone that eventually you have nothing left to give of yourself and it all goes to shit. Eventually you’ll find someone that will stay back and pick up all the fruit. As in…all those parts of you that someone else didn’t know how to appreciate. Anyway. Don’t mind me I’m just being gay as fuck and romanticizing every aspect of my life. Looking at the world thru rose colored lenses is how I survive
Every night I put an orange by my bedside that I eat as soon as I wake up while I lay in bed and with each slice I put in my mouth I’ll say something kind to myself aloud. It works it really does
