Nobody freak out. I made my content private because I am rewriting some of it and I want to fix my writing blog up to look nice. I appreciate all the love and support on Hindsight. It's ROUGH and needs work, and I didn't give justice to any side characters at all (plus, one whole character disappeared!)

Now that I have some more free time, I plan on spending more time writing, posting, etc. but first I want to redo this blog to look nicer for the whole 3 of you that read my stuff.

Also, I saw another user has an OC in a McCoy fic that is very similar to mine. Please note, I have had this idea for years on this character and never wrote it, and I never had any intention of copying or stealing any intellectual property from anyone. If that author sees this and has questions, my inbox is open. <3

oh you're in a horror film/book and your phone died/has no bars? how boring. I think phones in horror SHOULD work. they should ding only to have the protagonist check and find nothing. they should get calls from somebody you don't know but is still somehow in your contacts. google maps should lead you to one place, no matter what address you type in.

phones are such a big part of our daily lives, removing them from horror removes the horror from our experience. what if the horror felt like it could happen to you, right here, right now? what if it felt like it was already happening?

Your phone rings - but it's your phone number on the screen. You answer it, but all you hear is heavy, laboured breathing. You go to say something, only to hear your voice on the other end tell you "It's too late," and hang up.

You get a message from a number you don't recognise. It's a picture of you from behind. You turn and see there's nobody there. When you look back at your phone, you see the sender has sent another text - "Sorry, wrong number."

Your phone rings - it's a private number. You answer it, only to feel the sensation of something licking your ear.

You wake up to find a voicemail. You play it back, only to hear an autotuned version of your own voice reciting a Bible passage - 1 Peter 2: 18-20.

You get an emergency alert. It says "I'm sorry."

I think Travis Mayweather is underused so here are some personal headcanons:

After many months unable to find a minshara planet to take shore leave or even go work, the crew is starting to feel under the weather, irritable and sad. The only one who is ok with all that is Travis so Archer asks him to help regain morale. Travis develops a rotation to the bioponic garden, helping Dr. Phlox to care for his animals and walking Porthos. He asks Tucker to create more UV lamps because, apparently, nobody but him thought of bringing one. And finally, he organises a treasure hunt ship wide and teaches people space shanties to sing around, many of very silly or horny content. He invites the crew to develop their own shanties and some people accept the challenge. He also recommends to Archer to instruct people to decorate their quarters as best as they can, with as many colours as possible.

He has his father's maps of planets that are good places to eat or good places to buy/sell things or to make repairs. Sometimes, when Archer asks T'Pol to consult the Vulcan database for a planet to explore, Travis raises his hand and mentions something like "Permission to speak freely, sir, but with just a small detour, we could stop at Triana 5. There is a Betazoid chef that makes excellent interplanetary food. Some Vulcans said it's the best they've had made by a non-Vulcan, T'Pol".

When they are in the expanse and things start to work funny, at some point the ship loses the navigation sensors. Travis knows how to orientate without navigation, thanks to having piloted an old ship that sometimes wasn't very trustworthy. He even keeps his orientation tools in his room and everyone is amazed that he can make sense of all the stars around that keep changing. Obviously, this only works at impulse but it's better than nothing.
