Here’s the music video we produced for ‘Ignite’ - Villy Raze’s monster collaborative dance track with Franny Asprin of SPACE. The aim of the game here was to create a narrative that reflected hope and justice in a dark time, which we had a lot of fun with. We set the scene in an alternate Big Brother/ weird plant infested dystopia. That’s all we’re saying. Complete with hand drawn animations and enough experimentation's in black and white to make the 90′s dance overlords proud.
Most Occlumus animations are hand drawn the old school way. Here’s a peek at the process behind the ones seen in the ‘Ignite’ music video, serving as an integral part of the storytelling process.
Artwork for The Mighty Bossmags debut album ‘Curio Cabinet’. Being an extremely themed album, filled aplenty with phantasmagorical stories and with each track individually wrapped to indulge its own concept musically, we decided to give each number on the album its own corresponding shelf, or two, in the cabinet. Fans of the band can now literally play the weirdy, witchy-tale punk version of ‘What’s What?’
Poster we’ve designed for this quiet bank holiday Easter weekend in Old Town House, Warrington. If you’ve had the pleasure of being to Old Town House before, and know its wonders, then you’ll notice the flamingo is a nice touch. As always, however, we may have taken certain liberties in illustrating the venue.
Commissioned 40′s movie-style cover artwork for Kent metal band, State of Anxiety, for their upcoming single ‘Flight 19′ about the incident where a designation (with the same name) of 5 planes went missing over the Bermuda Triangle. We also loved re-illustrating the bands existing cartoon pumpkin-headed mascot, Hollow Jack, complete with the pilot garb.
We have taken great pleasure in designing this logo, or symbol, for Villy Raze. For a solo individual like Villy, we needed something strong, transferable with little difficulty, and with the potential to be immediately recognizable after you’ve seen it once and associated it with his act. We decided to make it up out of pre-existing, old alchemical symbols, whose architects levels of symbol mastery warrants no further introduction. It just so happens that VR, also the initials of the act, stands for Aqua Regia, the only substance that could dissolve gold and platinum. As such, the symbols for gold and platinum were a must (see the legend on the scan of experimentation’s that never made the cut.) as well as a few other suitable elements like the moon, fire and Caput Mortuum (Death’s Head). In our first consultations with Villy over vague ideas, one of the ideas he had was to make it a fish. So there you have it. Villy’s own triangular alchemy fish, or as he calls it: The ‘Moon Fish’.
The logo for Old Town House EASTERVAGANZA! (A 3-day festival in Warrington) was inspired by 40′s B movie horror titles. This silly cover photo-sized piece, in a similar 40′s movie poster style, was the first promo release unveiling the event for Facebook, before the actual poster itself was released.
