Smoke it off | Yokai & Moros

That was⦠fair. It made Moros realize that he was still thinking of Yokai as just another person, and he was forced to reconsider slightly. Logically, it made sense that someone like Yokai would prefer the company of someone unperturbed by perceived oddities. Moros couldnāt say he felt the same, really, but then heād never been wholly comfortable conversing with anyone, regardless of their attitude toward him.
At least it was coming a little more easily now. It did help that Yokai had different expectations for conversational topics than most people. Moros didnāt have to try and maintain some pretense of normality. Yokai not looking at him constantly helped too. Most people were so intent on eye contact. It made his skin crawl.
Yokai seemed derisive of his suggestion, though privately Moros didnāt believe a word of what he said. If Yokai had done anything other than act the way he had, Moros would have vanished. He didnāt care enough to correct him, though. Instead he kept quiet, watching the water ripple in the aftermath of Yokaiās disturbance. When the water had smoothed out once more, he asked, āAnd when youāre not enjoying the peace? What do you do then?ā
The question rips a chuckle from Yokaiās throat, itās surprisingly sinister due to his tone. Well, itās an understandable curiosity, he supposed. He invited it, so now the raven haired boy merely takes his time to think it through. The right way to say it, what to say, those things make him think for once in a longer while.
āDepends on my mood.ā He ends up saying before he continues, it was a generally alright opening.Ā āSometimes I enjoy making others uneasy, savouring the fear in their eyes, the fear of the unknown and the occult. But other times.. Well, I prefer my company with less life in them. Those occasions are unpredictable, though.ā
He takes a small breath of the cold night air before looking up to Moros yet again.
āAnd what about you?ā It feels only fair to ask in return.
