[Nona; Rhys] ‘ we know everything. i don’t understand much of it, but you know, i know it. ’
{❛ I’m too lazy to figure out where this came from ! }
╳ ➹ :: ― Rhys jolted at Nona’s words. We know everything. The words echoed in his head a moment before Rasmus flashed through his mind and his chest constricted and launched his heart directly into his throat. Had he been standing, he’s pretty sure that his weak knees wouldn’t have supported him very well. He stared down at his lap a moment, trying desperately to gather his panicked pieces back into the confines of his carefully crafted mask of calm before Nona could notice anything amiss. But the most he thought of Rasmus and the things that he could have told Nona. The things that he would tell Nona if it meant getting to Rhys, he found it increasingly hard to breathe. Oh it had been a long time since he’d fallen apart. He couldn’t do that. It left him open, it left him blind, and damn near deaf to anything anyone tried to say. I know it. I know it. I know it. Surely she was talking about something else. She had to be. He just couldn’t push far enough back in his panic-thickened thoughts to figure out what. God, he should have been paying closer attention to what she was talking about. He’d let his attention slip for one second and now his composure was going with it.
His hands were shaking. He knew it, he could see it. If she knew, he told himself, then she wouldn’t be so calm about it. There was no way Nona knew. She’d never forgive him if she did. Rasmus calculated too much to have told her this early in the game. He knew that. Taking a slow breath through his nose, eyes closing, he forced himself back together piece by piece. He doubted the girl hadn’t noticed. Coming up with something wouldn’t be hard though, if she asked. Opening his eyes and offering a small smile, he shook his head. ❝ Sorry, Nona. Could you go through that again from beginning to end ? I didn’t quite catch it. ❞
