BarNix Wedding RP Event Side A

It was an overcast morning in Trinidad, the clouds promising rain as they lingered in the air. On any other day, it wouldn't a good omen. But that day was different for a particular couple. Rain on a wedding day symbolized abundance, they heard.

Nix stood before a full body mirror, her heart racing in her chest as she got ready for her big day. She was giving marriage another go. It was nerve-racking. But somehow, everything felt so right. Even at that very moment, she knew it was going to be far different than her first wedding. The fact that she was wearing a dress she picked for herself and not one she was forced to wear spoke volumes.

"You know, I never thought I'd find myself ever doing this again..." Nix admitted with a light chuckle.

Nix turned around to see the two women behind her. "You think I'm too good for him? I always thought he was too good for me..."

Nix pulled on a pair of lace fingerless gloves, nearly done getting ready. At that point, she didn't need so much help. Not that she wouldn't let them, of course. It felt nice having people she cared about helping her get ready for her wedding instead of a bunch of strangers paid to do it.

Brown had quietly slipped away from the commotion of Betsy's pregnancy, and into his room. He wished he could help, but... he's worried.

After the incident at the Amazon Rainforest, Brown's grown incredibly anxious. Sending those two on a mission together... he got both of them hurt. Peso could've died of malaria if they were too late to help. The penguin that he's known since both their first days as Octonauts, he... almost lost him.

They've both gotten his apology by now, and even though both of them have profusely expressed that it wasn't his fault, Brown... still felt bad.

Even though things are much lower stakes this time, he still slipped away in the moment. He pretty quickly felt terrible for doing that, but couldn't manage to go back either. All he has to do is give Betsy support through all this, yet he still worried that he could do something wrong, even though it wouldn't have much impact other than being a small mistake. He's never felt so... useless.

Brown thought about the people helping her right now.

"She's in good hands... both paws and flippers."

Onyx knocked on Brown's door, waiting only a beat before entering.

"Hiya, Brown! Um, do you happen to know what's going on? It's kind of hectic out here."

They walked in, carrying on with the air of suppressed energy she always carried, "I tried to ask the others, but... loud. Figured I'd see if you knew."

Onyx halted as they finally took a look at Brown.

"Hey, is everything alright?"

Brown heard Onyx before they had even knocked on the door. In the few seconds he had to compose himself, he quickly sat up on his bed, though his fur was more messy than usual.

O- oh, well, I heard that Betsy's pregnant, apparently. I- I don't know what's happening right now, I ended up slipping away from that, cause I... uh, was a little stressed out? Yeah...

"Woah, what?" Onyx snapped her head up and locked eyes — which had previously been wandering around the room — with Brown.

She shot a glance back out into the hallway in the vague direction of Betsy and the others, and spun just as quickly back the other way.

"Pregant? Oh, wow. Okay- um... That's. That's big news. Really big." They exhaled slowly. "I guess it was bound to happen.. I mean honestly I was betting on Nix and Barnacles being first but still."

R- right. She seemed... really stressed. I- I wasn't sure how I could help calm her, so, I, uh, left. I- I hope she didn't notice...

Brown seemed awfully nervous mentioning that...

But- from the sounds of things, everyone's doing their best to help! Although, I couldn't quite catch a bit of what Betsy said at one point. I was- focused on something else!

"Something else, huh? Betsy doesn't seem to be the only one stressed out..."

Onyx idly spun on their heel before sitting down right there on the floor.

She added quietly, "S'it the Amazon?"

On one paw, Brown was shocked to be seen through so easily, but on the other, he was a little glad.

Y- yes? Um...

Brown was once again nervous to say anything.

Onyx sat contemplative for a moment before breaking through the silence.

"Those were a rough few days..." She tangled her fingers around the leather cord of her necklace. "I mean, it hit all of us pretty hard, but seems like you're taking it worse than the rest of us."

"You don't need to, but..." He looked up. "You wanna talk about it?"

Uh- uhm... It's just- y'know, I was the one that sent them on that mission and caused all that! I made such a big mistake... I- I know it wasn't my fault, everyone's told me that many times, but... what if I make another mistake that causes everything to go wrong again at some point? I mean- when I sent them on that mission, Peso almost-

He trailed off, looking down once again.

"I know it's probably not gonna do much to make you feel better... but no one could have known how that mission would turn out. And even if someone did know, sending them out there was a group effort. It's not all on you. "

They traced a claw along the floor.

"I was thinking like that for a while too, wondering why I didn't do more to help, but it's no good. You've got a whole crew here and a bunch of great things to look forward to! Everyone's okay, Nix n' Barnacles are getting married soon, Betsy's pregnant apparently!"

She reached a paw out to Brown.

"I know that doesn't get rid of what happened, but you've got a bunch of people here to help you however you need. If you need to be alone and process it yourself, I'll go. If you need a distraction, I can be that. Whatever it is."

I think another thing that'll prevent the threads from getting too long would be to separate the introduction into two since that part will be focused on the couple getting ready for their big day

One is Barnacles, and the other is Nix

Idk when I'll start but it will be soon since we need a wholesome RP, and I want an excuse to draw wedding stuff

Also, I may or may not make a Professor Inkling ask blog solely so he can be the officiant

Unless someone else wants to do the honors as whoever they want idk

And yeah- I've actually seen some mentions in my archives (from mammalian folk like yourself) and with the few other forest folk i know regarding what I believe is us with a variety of names!

Forest folk, forest faeries, plant people, stumpers, floral folk (we tend to blossom with age), and so on! I don't think we really have an official name though?

I'm quite small myself (3 feet minus the antennae) but we come in a range of different sizes! Oh and appearances! For example, a friend of mine and I are both rather treelike, but I find that my dear partner Frog has alot of mushroom features!

I do have a rather aquatic friend but fae doesn't look anything like your saplings do!

Fae doesn't seem to be similar to the vegimals at all though! Rather translucent, prefer deeper waters,(can handle salt water!!! Not very good for me sadly), still has bark like feet stumps and tips, and blossomed flowers. Their hair is quite similar to vines but they can sting rather sharply!

But as far as I'm aware, no fishy features!

Uhm I'm definitely rambling-

I'm curious though, they appear to have scales and fins which definitely are more fauna than flora- perhaps they simply look like the animal traits and are made of floral matter? Convergent evolution and what not

As for my origin, I cant say id know if I came from an egg or had a "pod" like theirs. My small pod and some close friends came to be by finding eachother later on. Not found together like the vegimals seem to have been found on the side of the octopod?

I just remember existing,personally. Although I have met some fae who found others with similar physical features to them- (the older ones tend to guide or interact with whatever younger ones we find, especially if they came from the same locations and bare similar resemblance to us)
