A little sneak peek from my upcoming project
The โWelcome to Silverpineโ sign flashed past the windshield before I could convince myself to turn the car around.
Five years. Five years since Iโd driven this road since I swore Iโd never come back and yet, here I was. Same cracked asphalt stretching ahead for miles. Same ghosts waiting at every turn. The kind of memories you try to forget, but they still find ways to keep you up at night.
The air smelled the same too. Pine. Rain. The faint smoke of someoneโs fireplace drifting through the hills. Silverpine never changed. The people didnโt either. Thatโs what scared me most.
I told myself I was only here for the weekend just long enough to show up for my sisterโs wedding, laugh with my little brother, and leave before my past caught up to me.
Before he did.
