welcome to the final show, hope you're wearing your best clothes. you can't bribe the door on your way to the sky. you look pretty good down here, but you ain't really good
“my god, i can’t keep them all straight for the life of me,” zara replies, looking at her own phone out of pure habit. “it is all for security but you know, if anyone were to get into the notes in my phone they would have absolutely all of my log in and password information for every app there is. i would be royally fucked because i can’t remember any of them so i record them all in my phone. how counterproductive is that?”
“the notes app. that is so brilliant. i just save them all into the autofill and use face id. i’ve never thought about putting them in my notes app! zara, you’re a genius!” odette gasped, unable to believe she hadn’t thought of that. she really only used her notes for her shopping list, but the possibilities are endless. “this is why you’re the brains of the operation.” she truly adored zara, and considered her one of her closest friends.
“Odette!” Sky laughed at the ridiculous joke that sounded like it came straight from a stand up special. She leaned over her laptop to look at the other woman and shake her head. “Turbo tax don’t joke.” She snickered, then turned her attention back to her own tax forms. “I can’t believe I pay taxes, but still can’t vote in the bloody country.” She scuffed.
“please, if someone wants my information that badly, they can have it. take my whole identity. i’ll disappear into a forest and live with the woodland creatures like a disney princess.” she teased, flashing her dear friend a playful grin. “i can’t believe you’d still be arrested and go to jail if you screw it up. like people from other countries are supposed to magically know the tax laws they don’t even teach their own citizens?”
“Yeah, cyber security is like bullshit most of the time,” she rolls her eyes as the speaks to the other. She was constantly forgetting her passwords to most of her social media, thanks to her siblings always grabbing her phone and fucking around with it. “Honestly, I only really try to remember the passwords to my bank account and only fans account. Anything else? Some fucking basement dwelling nerds can hack onto, I don’t care.”
“i don’t have anything worth hacking into.” she signed in exasperation. the most interesting information that someone could get from her phone or laptop was her browsing history, and even that was boring. she wanted boring, she worked hard to have a boring, quiet life. but boring was still boring and fuck was she bored. “i don’t make enough money to pay attention to, and i’ve got no dirty little secrets under my floorboards.” at least the first part was true.
Landon wasn’t being the greatest friend right now since he wasn’t paying that much attention to what Odette was saying. He was trying to get his water bottle opened one handed and with the hand that wasn’t his dominant one. Needless to say, it wasn’t going well and this had him distracted but at least he still understood the general gist of what his friend was telling him. “Is this your way of telling me that you forgot your password again?” he asked, raising his eyebrows. “Because if that’s the case let me tell you, you’re going to run out of possible passwords at this rate.”
“in my defense, i didn’t actually get a chance to use it again after i change it, so i had no way to burn it into my mind.” she huffed sheepishly, blaming everything but herself for her bad memory. she hadn’t noticed his awkward fumbling and gave him an apologetic smile. “here, let me help, honey. sorry, i got carried away.” she let out a soft laugh at her own expense, extending a hand to take the bottle from him, if he chose her help.
“i’m sure nothing can be worse than what my passwords used to be like back in high school.” he laughed, noticing how annoyed she was with these websites judging her for her ‘weak’ password. “i mean, i had the really brilliant idea of using my own last name and the number seven.” he paused, adding. “at least it was just like, facebook or whatever.” he then furrowed his brows, wondering how the hell he lived before ‘face id’ was a thing. “now i just look at my phone and i ain’t gotta remember anything. it’s good for people with shitty memories like us.”
“my first password was the name of a disney princess and the last two of my birth year, and i used it right up until college. our college log-in made us reset the password every 90 days and i mean, why? if someone wanted to sign on and i don’t know, finish my homework? check my grades? whatever, let them. and yet i know for a fact i’ve typed the wrong password into my bank app and it’s still let me in.” she rolled her eyes in exasperation, but was grateful he understood her suffering. “i’m so glad it autofills for me now. and my contact info too, for when i’m spending too much money on line.”
“I feel the exact same way!” Jess agreed, leaning her elbows on the table. “It’s ridiculous, I one hundred percent understand the need for difficult passwords – BUT every website defines a strong password differently and most of the time you end up with your password used with a million different alterations. You’re also told not to write them down but.. how do you remember all those different passwords? It’s too much of a brainer for me. You should see some of the passwords my brother makes. Hint, they’re not even English.”
“i’m so glad you understand. i don’t know about you, but i’ve been using the same two passwords since i started on the internet, and i’m not sure if i could remember any more.” she couldn’t deny how smart it was to have your passwords in a different language, especially if english was your first language. maybe she would try that in the future. “a non-english password actually sounds like a good idea, to be honest. an old roommate of mine used phone numbers.”
“i can’t stand needing a password for everything! everything needs a username and password and it makes me insane.” ella agreed with a humpf. “i understand why they’re necessary but when some of them need the capital and lowercase and special character im like just like come on cut me a break.”
“right? like, i’ve got an iphone, with the face id, and honestly, i’m not sure i could remember the code now if it wasn’t dorian’s birthday.” she cringed at revealing her own secrets, but it’s not like she had anything on her phone to hide. if she even know who odette’s brother was to begin with. “and in the early days of the internet, we never needed that, so i’ve gotta modify the same password i’ve been using since i was 12 but i can never remember what special character i added. it’s the worst!”
“I just need a couple smaller things, but the more I keep looking the more I think that preemie may even be way too big for my daughter,” he chuckled. “She was born 4 pounds 11 ounces so she is super tiny and these look like these could eat her up.”
she nodded along, her eyes scanning the rows and rows of clothes in front of them. “okay so most of this will probably be a little too big at first, but she’ll grow quickly, so you’ll want to start with these--” she paused, grabbing a couple of items off of the display. she thought for a moment and then selected a few more. “and these as she gets bigger.”
"you know, it’s really kind of annoying that these websites are always judging the strength of my password.” she grumbled, putting her phone to sleep and dropping it back into her bag. “like, i get it’s all security and whatnot, but really? why does my password for pinterest have to be stronger than the password for my banking? and the attitude of these forms. ‘your password is weak’. yeah well, so is my memory, honey, let me have this.”
Eloise tapped her pen against her lip. She wasn’t using the pen; she was using her computer to work on her manuscript, but the pen was an anxious habit she had. The coffee shop she was sitting in was buzzing around her, which would usually get her juices flowing. Today, however, juices were not flowing. She couldn’t figure out what got her into this funk she was in. She had deadlines approaching and so far had nothing to deliver. She turned around to the person sitting at the table behind her. “Hi, I’m sorry to interrupt you, but I’m trying to work and I need your help. I’m an author and can’t figure out my next scene. So picture this, you get to make one wish to create your dream romantic partner. What is it?” She bit lightly on the end of the pen, nervously awaiting their reply, while also mentally slapping herself for being so awkward.
it wasn’t every day that odette was asked about her perfect person in the middle of the coffee shop, but if it would help the girl with her book, she’d give it a shot. she took a long sip of the hot drink in her hand as she thought. “i’m really not that picky but uhm...hmm, i’ve never really given it much thought.” she sighed, looking out at the people in the shop. “i guess...i would want someone with a sense of humour. a big heart, too, someone who’s kind and loving. someone who knows how to handle my crazy. but i guess, none of that is really wish-worthy. if we’re talking about appearance, my favourite feature in a partner is their smile. and i’ve got a soft spot for nice hair. oops.”
Mason had eventually left the hospital to grab some premie clothes for Hope. She was so tiny and she had maybe two outfits that would fit her and diapers would be huge for her so he had thought it would be a good idea to grab some stuff for both of them . It was also a chance to get food for both of them that wasn't from the hospital and give the new mom her one on one time. "I feel like I just was here not too long ago and now here I am again," he smiled as he sat there trying to figure out what he was looking for. "I have no idea what the diffrence is with these diapers. Would you know anything with premie and newbor?"
thanks to her time volunteering at the nicu, odette was thankfully knowledgeable about everything to do with newborn and premie babies. “i do, actually. most newborn stuff is going to be way too big for a premie.” she explained with a soft smile. “what is it you’re looking for, honey? let’s see what we can find.”
( EMMA WATSON, 26, CISFEMALE) I just bumped into [ ODETTE TAYLOR ] the other day while walking down [ SOUTH ] Kingsboro, where [ SHE/HER ] live. I hear they can be [ ALTRUISTIC ] and [ SINGLE-MINDED ], but when I think of them I immediately think about [ WORN BALLET SLIPPERS, THE SMELL OF FLOWERS AFTER THE RAIN, CLASSICAL MUSIC PLAYING SOFTLY THROUGH THE NIGHT ]
full name , nickname(s) : odette juliette taylor, dot, dottie
age , dob , zodiac : twenty - six , february 27 , pisces
hometown : san francisco, ca
gender , pronouns : ciswoman , she / her
orientation : pansexual , panromantic
occupation : dancer, florist
language(s) spoken : english - fluent , american sign language - fluent , italian - fluent
family life: born in san francisco, odette is the middle child of three and eldest girl. she had a happy childhood, her family was a close one, and her siblings were her best friends. they were a musical family, and odette was no exception. from her first steps, she was singing and dancing. her parents supported her passions, enrolling her in dance classes and singing lessons that would eventually earn her admission to juilliard. she continued to live at home while attending school, as her family had moved to new york a few years prior.
pre-kingsboro life: upon graduation from juilliard, odette was recruited to dance in rome, italy. it was terrifying to travel across the world, but it was an opportunity she couldn’t turn down. she worked hard to earn her place in the corps, setting her sights on one day being a principal dancer. after a couple of years, she won the role of her dreams, playing her namesake in swan lake. halfway through the show’s limited run, odette quit suddenly, packing her entire life into a few suitcases and returning home to kingsboro.
kingsboro life: odette has been back in town now for about a year, and works as a florist in between her time in the corps and ensembles of various broadway shows. she seems to be quite content in her life as a backup dancer and still refuses to talk about why she left italy. she can also often be found cuddling babies at the local nicu, especially when she’s stressed or upset, and often babysits the children around the neighbourhood. she also teaches music lessons.
dreams & goals: all odette wants out of life is to fall in love and start a family, but there is a restless, electric undercurrent to her that makes it difficult for her to get close to people. she has no intentions of brilliance on broadway, and is just happy to be a part of it. she never speaks of returning to ballet, but would like to, one day.
personality: odette is extremely soft and kind. she loves flowers and the colour pink and anything girly. she’s the mom friend and loves to bake, especially sweets, but is honestly horrible at it please do not eat anything she gives you. while the type to make friends with everyone, there are very few people she lets close to her heart. unfortunately she is also easily distracted and fidgety, and can sometimes come off as flakey. despite her constant attempts at time management and organizing her life, she still runs about 5 minutes behind everything she does.
wanted connections:
best friend/roommate; odette’s platonic other half, the one that reminds her to eat and the shoulder she cries on. her ride or die.
bad influence; let’s be real, odette can be a little boring. she has to be explicitly invited to things, even if it’s a group invitation. she needs someone to help her let loose a little and have fun.
midnight confidante; someone she’s never seen in the daylight, but they always end up in the same place to destress. they don’t even know each other’s names, and yet they know the other’s darkest thoughts.
frenemies; someone that odette just hates but is too nice to actually be mean to their face.
casual hookup/fwb/one night stand; this is kinda self explanatory, but she’s pan and a hopeless romantic that is easily wooed.
will they, won't they; friends that are always flirting and joking about being a couple, but are not actually a couple. nobody knows whether or not they actually have feelings for each other.
exes; odette lived in kingsboro from 15-22 and has been back for about a year. she’s a hopeless romantic who falls in love easily, so there are plenty of ex connections. good terms, bad terms, somewhere in between? maybe even a first love?
she’s very open, please feel free to message me at any time for more!
