Lydia, on the other hand, had gone through the whole wedding fiasco before being turned. She’d done the church, the white dress, everything she grew up believing was expected on a wedding day to a man she grew up believing she was expected to end up with. It was a total shit show.
“Weddings cast voodoo to make you forget you’re not the only people in the world, I’m sure of it. No one else could possibly be using the street they happen to be on for their so-called special day.”
Callisto snapped her fingers -- the sound of which cut through even the din of the procession in all their joy for a moment -- and pointed at Lydia, her mouth quirking into something of a smirk, “Exactly. No one else matters. If you or I, by ourselves, mind you -- just a woman trying to have a good moment, for instance -- we would be called out and hauled off for disturbing the peace... but alas, two people chose to tie themselves together and so the world might as well be on fire for all they’re paying attention.”
