SWEET PEA.
“LIKE SCHOOLS?” his own face scrunching at the memories of riverdale high, had he not spent the first few years at southside high ( which, while the school wasn’t the most funded, at least it had some normality. ) he would’ve assumed all schools had been that type of crazy, that type of you wouldn’t believe it unless you were actually there. eventually, he realized school wasn’t worth it, he wasn’t learning anything, the town had far too much other stuff going on, so he dedicated his time solely to the serpents. “never paid attention in school, but if you lived in my town, you’d get why.” a low chuckle to follow his words.
not that she, or anyone else, would ever believe him. the stuff that went down in riverdale felt too out there to ever be real.
dark gaze focused on the table, he had played enough games to know where to go, how to aim to get the best shot. but it would never make him be less concentrated, to put his all into the game, and complete focus on his next move. only letting the wide, shit-eating grin spill onto his lips as he pot one of his balls. “the woman may try her best, but there’s no promise she will win.” unspoken to himself that, even from the one move she had made, he knew she was good. it had a slight buzz of excitement humming in his veins. he really loved a good game.
“we’ll see about that, but i hope you’ve brought your money because im going to pick the best lookin’ drink there.”
" OR UNIVERSITIES. “ she mused with a scrunch of her nose, the boy looked ‘ college aged ‘ then again she had been 14 when she begun classes at MIT so maybe she wasn’t the best person to judge. “ but i mostly meant to say that i enjoy learning, in fact i’d deem it my super-power. “ as would most people who met her — stark minds were notoriously respected and there was nothing morgan enjoyed more than being the smartest person standing in the room. his words did cause her to double take for a moment, it was hard to realize you lived in a world of privilege when you never left it. everywhere she turned she was ‘ the morgan stark ‘ if she wasn’t tony stark’s daughter, she was pepper pott’s and when wasn’t that she was the future of stark industries, all before she’d even been able to form a sentence, and the responsibility had only increased over the years, the need to continue the legacy that rested on her shoulders, it was ingrained and doing well academically had been a huge part of it, still was. “ i’m an engineer. “ she finished with a roll of her shoulders. “ tinkering and wanting to study everything i see. is just second nature. “
doe eyes followed the young man’s moves closely, looking as nonchalant as ever she focused on what he was doing — not incredibly bothered by the fact that he had been honest ‘ he was good ‘ no in fact ‘ he was great ‘ but that just meant that she now knew what to expect. which meant that she’d need a little more than ‘ half ass effort ‘ and a ‘ witty comment ‘ which one would argue could be the words to best write her autobiography. “ no promise needed, when she’s a naturally born GENIUS at everything she’s done since birth. “ was she showing off? maybe a little but when didn’t she? it was a part of the adorable and endearing package that made her who she was.
moving across the table for herself, she focused on her next move, making sure to steady her aim and looking pleased as she potted not one but two of her balls. “ i ENJOY red. “ she declared with a proud tilt of her chin as she moved backwards in order to grant him the space to shoot again.
