Medicine ◄ Talen & Daxton
Talen woke up to the sound of movement inside of the room. She couldn’t tell where it was coming from or who it was coming from mainly due to the fact, that her eyes were still closed and she was on her side on the chair inside the medical tent. It had been uncomfortable, but she hadn’t been able to fall asleep and had dark circle for days. This was worth the back ache. At first she thought thought it was Hudson coming to tell her that she needs to leave again and wait until Daxton wakes up, but it wasn’t likely after what she screamed at him. Flashbacks from the night came back to her slowly and she tried to put them all together like they were puzzle pieces. Some sort of pieces that hurt when you put them back together. She remembered clenching to the walkie talkie when she heard that the other group had been ambushed and not having another choice other than to take control of her own team and continuing with the mission. She remembered carrying boxes and running and waiting and praying the other group came back safely. Most of all she remembered the thing she didn’t want to; people coming back injured, bleeding, carrying others, and some even crying. Talen remembered screaming at Eden and Hudson. Fuck. She began to regret everything, until she heard the sound grow louder followed by curses until she finally recognized it, The brunette rushed to her feet and saw Daxton in front of her. “D-Dax” she said, she could barely hear herself as she looked him up and down. He looked a lot worse than the others in the other tents, but he was alive. Weak, but alive, she thought and couldn’t help, but smile for a second. “Goddamn, can you not move for a second? You’re lucky to be alive, asshole, let’s not risk it. Okay?” she said and gently pushed him. “Do you remember anything, by any chance?” she ask, her voice becoming softer softly looking down at the floor and yawning.
Daxton didn't get hurt. Emotionally, physically, mentally. And if he did, he'd make sure no one knew. He couldn't afford to depend on anyone but himself. That was just the way things had to be. So when he'd been shot in the leg, barely making it out of the scene alive, he did his best to conceal his limp, assuring everyone that he was perfectly fine. Only when he was convinced he was alone did he finally allow himself to relax, letting out cries of pain, followed by a few curses. The fact that Talen came trampling around the corner only freaked him out more. It was if she'd been intruding on his inner thoughts, and she hated it. Why was it that she never quit? There wasn't a thing Daxton could say to her to make her leave for good, and that drove him nuts. "Hey, d-don't touch me. I'm fine," he did his best to fake his signture smile. "See? I'm fine. Now get out of here."
