That's very much not a small price to pay, @cameoappearance
I woke up and my Porygon-Z just
Had a fucking egg
I don't have any pokemon that he could've bred with
How did he do this???
shouldn't have used that dubious disc...

Genuine question, but what harm does a counterfeit TM pose? Wouldn't it just not work?
All depends on the counterfeit!
Some counterfeits are produced by genuine sellers who know what they're doing, and through a TR Scanner you can easily tell they're clean. No adverse effects on a Pokémon. This encompasses maybe 10% of all counterfeits.
The next most likely are the ones that just straight up don't function. You'll load them into a TR Scanner and they'll come up blank. About 10-15% of them fall here.
Then, we have what I call the oddities. TMs that are very clearly illegal for League Challenges, but aren't explicitly adverse for the Pokémon. Some examples I've found:
An Outrage TM that had a 75% chance to confuse, not guaranteed
A Vine Whip TM that had a chance to lower the opponent's Special Defense by 1 stage (not sure what the goal there was)
A Fire Spin TM that had a chance each turn to inflict BURN
and the list goes on.
Finally, the malware. TMs can either intentionally or unintentionally cause minor to severe damage to Pokémon, both temporary and chronic.
In the case of negligent malware, Silph Co., for instance, had an issue with the TM Counter about 25 years ago, where mons who thought they had successfully landed a counter would be stuck still, and some even suffered seizures. I know someone with a disabled Chansey who had to deal with that.
As for predatory malware is compatibility malware. Hyper Beam should NEVER be taught to a Weedle, their bodies cannot handle the stress. I have personally, recently, seen one's horn severely damaged when it was told to use it.
Finally, there's the outright evil. Malicious malware, like the one created by Team Plasma about 15 years ago, causes the Pokémon to be incapable of developing Friendship... which, in turn, isolated them from not only other trainers, but Pokémon as well.
In short: if you're going to go second market, be safe, get a TR Scanner or two, and by god, do not get anything from Silph Co.
This Doduo’s trainer refers to their mon as ‘they’ in more ways than one! This doduo is intersex, the only thing that sets them apart visually are their differently colored necks, outside of that each head has a pretty similar temperament. The male half they named Andy and the female they call Anne! I usually don’t ask to take photos of patients when they discharge, but I was so excited to see a fellow nonbinary icon I couldn’t help myself. (They were just in for a sprained knee, after some PT they’re just needing to wear a knee brace for a bit, so all is well!)
They are shaped the same...like friends ready to hug
Ready to hug
hug achieved!!
[ID: first images are of the Pokemon Raichu and Quagsire’s in game sprites; both of their arms are outstretched and they smile similarly. The second set of these sprites turns Raichu to face Quagsire, as if they’re about to hug. Third reblog is a digital painting of the two hugging tightly. Raichu’s tail is wrapped around Quagsire’s back in place of being able to hug Quagsire fully because of its smaller arms. Quagsire is crouching slightly to rest its chin on Raichu’s head. They are in a grassy clump. End ID]
Pokemon "Move" Headcanons
My belief is that named pokemon "moves" are a set of accepted, standard moves defined by the Pokemon League. Actual pokemon can do any number of behaviors, but only specific moves done in a specific way are defined as a named and recognized move. This is part of what training entails: A magby can spit fire in all kinds of ways, it takes training to teach it that spitting fire *in a specific direction, shape and intensity* is what is needed when given the command "Flamethrower".
This is comparable to human sports/athletics. A gymnast can move their body into all sorts of angles and positions. But only specific sequences are recognized as things like a "back handspring" or a "roundoff".
This is also why something like Flare Blitz will always be more powerful than something like Flame Charge. It's not that the pokemon can't do the move more intensely- it's that the move's power is part of its definition. Past a certain point, Ember stops being Ember and becomes something else (Flamethrower, etc.)
Deciding what moves are acceptable and what their parameters are was all a long process for the league. The goal was to have a standardized system both so that trainers could train regularly and know what to reasonably expect in battles, and so that gym leaders and other judges could evaluate battles consistently.
There is some flexibility in allowing for different pokemon anatomies and ways of behaving. A chatot's Hyper Voice will sound different from a jigglypuff's, but they will have a fairly consistent effect on other pokemon.
Pokemon contests are not run by the league. But the contest organization early on elected to keep their official move set consistent with the league's, because it makes standardization easier and allows for battle trainers to easily try contests and vice versa. (Like how the DSM and ICD are made by different organizations, but recent editions try to line up with one another).
Because they are standardized for judgement, the "Battle" version of a move is often simplified from natural wild behavior. For example, in the wild, Rain Dance is a more complex ritual enacted by pokemon like Blastoise. The battle form of it clearly still causes the rain effect, but tends to be more minimal. (The same way a waltz can be defined as a basic step with a diagram, but that doesn't really convey the art of seeing a full/elaborate waltz).
#009 - Florrapin Flower Shell Pokémon Grass
It cultivates marshland flora on its shell. By adjusting the position of the two largest flowers that grow on its back, Florrapin can take careful aim at its opponents and fire twin Solar Beams, striking with deadly accuracy.

Alola! Just wanted to give tips revolving around the more exotic pokemon I have on my team!(please note I'm not an expert on pokemon, this is from experience and info Kukui told me!)
Midnight form lycanroc:
The best way to give enrichment to this variant of lycanroc is to have toys they can continuously chew on, hold treats or can be torn apart, if the toys are a lil expensive then i recommend hiking! Just don't let them eat the rocks, they'll try for sure.
Immediately after evolution I've learned it's necessary to let them hold onto you, it helps strengthen their hind legs and them watching you walk is good visual aid, however if you are unable to walk it's good to let them hold onto your wheelchair/ have their own aid that can be purchased online. apparently this can happen in the wild too according to professor Kukui.
They are LOUD, especially since they like to "scream"(more like a high pitched, prolonged bark) durring nighttime, this may vary from pup to pup but giving my lycanroc a miltank bone helps keep her quiet
Goodra
They, are, slimy. They'll need quite a few bathes(2 every few days at most) as they're slimy bodies can hold onto a lot of dirt. Make sure you can access specialized shampoo meant to clean and not harm the chemical makeup of the slime as it keeps them healthy, also I would recommend wearing old, already dirty clothes as their slime can bleach fabric
They're quite social pokemon so it's best to have another pokemon to prevent depressive episodes, preferably a water type of similar size or build to the Goodra like a Blastoise or Lapras!
Make sure you are near a large body of water(such as a river, pond or even pool) as they enjoy wet environments!
If they start to dry up for no apparent reason, take them to a pokemon center immediately, it's a early sign of illness!
Volcanrona
Volcanronas are surprisingly omnivorous, they tend to prey on smaller bug pokemon such as caterpie, but they also enjoy some nice veggies(mine absolutely loves cabbage!) but as for the required meat part of the diet, I recommend purchasing pokemon food that have high meat contents(please ensure your pokemon has no allergies and if they do, simply get food without the allergens or make it yourself)
They are quite introverted compared to Goodras so a large, warm space is good spot for your Volcanrona, if you have a large backyard with easy access to sunlight they'll be happier than a mudbray rolling in mud! Also if they are kept indoors for too long they can start showing signs of illness, do not lock them inside for no good reason!
I've learned they are prone to strong smells, if they are suddenly reacting negatively towards you it might be your perfume/cologne. The intense smells can cause them to experience overstimulation or other sensory problems, which can cause them to become angered if the irritant isn't away from them asap
Blastoise Facts
-The scientific name for Blastoise is "Kanónas testudo" which means "Canon turtle"
-Blaistoise, Lapras, and Drednaw share a common ancestor, with the ancestor being Tirtuga/Caracosta
-The classification as "The shellfish pokemon" doesn't refer to its species; more of the fact thatvits aquatic and has a shell. They are definitely not mollusks
-The entire Blastoise line is cold-blooded and can't make their own body heat, instead relying on external temperatures. The heat speeds up their metabolism
-Blastoise are a lot slower than their pre evolutions because of their large shell and weight
-There are 2 main variants of Blastoise. The first one is the freshwater variants that live in lakes and rivers, and the second one is the salt water variants that live in the ocean
-Salt water Blaistoise can hold their breath the second longest out of the turtlemon, being able to hold their breath for 5-6 hours. They're beaten by Caracosta, who can hold their breath for 10 hours
-Blastoise parents will let their kids and other pokemon ride on their backs for support
-Not many people know this, but if they have enough water, Blastoise are able to propell themsels through the air
-One in every 100 Blastoise remain their fluffy tails. This was seen as a sign of good luck (headcanon from @slug-kaiju )
-The entire line have cloacas
-Blaistoise are piscivores, which means they primarily eat fish. Favorite of theirs is Magikarp, Goldeen, Finneon, and Remoraid
-Just like their bones, Blaistoise'a shell is part of their Skeleton
-Unlike a lot of other turtlemon, Blastoise stay and care for their young
-Blastoise are very caring Pokemon and have been known to care for young Pokemon that aren't their's
-Blastoise are watchful. They don't like humans in their territory, but they won't attack them unless provoked
-A group of Blastoise ans Wartortle is called a wave
-Blastoise that live in colder climates will go into hibernation when winter comes
Squirtle Facts
-The scientific name for Squirtle is "Bullitus Turtur" which translates to "Bubble turtle"
-Newborn Squirtle have very soft shells that harden over time from calcium and exposure to sunlight
-Squirtle are one of the easiest starters to train for their laid-back and calm nature
-Squirtle and the rest of it's line have cloacas
-Squirtle are able to hold their breath for two hours
-Squirtle's shell is part of their Skeleton (I've seen some trainers try to remove them. Please don't do this)
-A group of Squirtle is called a splash
-While there evolutions are piscovores, Squirtle prefer to eat seaweed, oysters, and sea vegetation
-Squirtle can come in almost all shades of blue, and sometimes, they can even be a greenish color
-If given enough water power, Squirtle are able to tuck themselves into their shell and shoot water and move in the air in a spinning motion
-Baby Squirtle are called Squirts
-For almost all turtle and tortisemon, the temperature of the nest they're laid in as eggs determines their sex (warmer temperatures mean female, and cooler temperatures mean male). However, this isn't true for Squirtle, with most of them hatching as male
-Another thing that differs them from other turtle or tortoisemon is the fact that their social and prefer to be in groups. Most other turtle or tortisemon are solitary
-Squirtle usually hatch 45 days after their egg is laid
-Squirtle and the rest of it's line all have third eyelids. This protects their eyes when swimming underwater
got bored and decided to draw some stylized starters
sorry if they're messy, I mainly did this for fun and didn't take it too seriously :P
