im in the same boat, havent looked at valorant until recently when i heard the lore was going crazy. i did not expect chiper canon lol

i think that's one of the many differences between ae & oe that they're trying to present. maybe it's some way to reinforce that these are different people, with different relationships with one another. meaning, AE viper probably still hates chamber's guts, but in OE it's not like that. after all they have different experiences. i really really hope thats what they do and that theyre not going to make it canon in AE too

maybe theyre going to use that in some lore later down the road. they're probably going to continue showing the difference in relationships from here on out

(ive also seen people suggest that it might be a reversal of AE, where viper's obsessed with chamber rather than vice versa and theyre not actually together? although im not sure if that's been "disproven" yet. if thats the case i dont know why/how she'd have chamber's glasses on her table, but something could probably be made up about that.)

idk ive always fw chiper but the prospect of canonization always made me nervous bc riot has disappointed me before. i was a little scared that they wouldnt respect the nuance of both of their characters but im super relieved after this lore stream and i have absolutely no qualms whatsoever about it now . apparently theyre updating the vls too to reflect the new developments of their relationship and im excited to see that

tldr i will always be in favor of chiper as long as its written the Right way . they are both equals, No One Is Harassing Anyone and its moreso an arrangement than an actual relationship
