Nani nodded firmly. “No problem!” she replied, breathing a sigh of relief as Judy (apparently) went off to deal with the so-called other car, leaving her to scramble to her own car when she was out of sight. Nani had no reason to believe that she had seemed suspicious, nor did she expect to be watched from behind another car.
Nani went to her own car quickly, first checking that there wasn’t a ticket on the wind shield, and breathing a further sigh of relief when the screen was clear. There had been a meter ticket attached to her window, but it had long since expired. She ripped it off before anyone could even see, tossing it in a nearby trashcan.
She pursed her lips in annoyance as she saw Nani toss out a previous parking ticket. “You know,” she spoke up with an icy tone. “Not paying parking tickets is a good way to get a warrant out on you.” Judy tapped her foot, crossing her arms in annoyance.
