The backstory: Far in the future, Doc, a human, invented Chimeras: living organisms, with a human's ability to walk straight and to talk, but still to look more like an animal. They became loyal friends and hard-working servants of humankind. Before they were officially released in stores, there were some failed exemplars, that are now known as the broken ones.
