no idea. whenever two (arguably) attractive male characters in a series hate each other, they end up amassing a decent niche of people who ship them. it’s like the rivals or tsundere archetype taken to the extreme- except, with rivals, there’s a basis of respect and even admiration between the two characters, and a tsundere is a tsundere to their love interest because they don’t want to admit feelings. i guess because love and hate are such strong emotions you can potentially argue that they’re interchangeable, but honestly i don’t understand the appeal of shipping two characters who fucking hate each other and would be happy to see the other dead. it would be interesting from a character building/development standpoint to create a narrative where chemistry becomes possible, though your ship is fueled pretty exclusively by fanon at that point. not my cup of tea.
