Wolf pup and Border Collie play date

Nikai the 9-week-old gray wolf pup and Faye the 13-week-old border collie pup had a playdate (filmed June 16, 2014) The two cute canids met up so that Nikai could benefit from socializing with another puppy. Faye is a perfect date for him - patient, intelligent and boundlessly energetic - she likes to control the toys, but she constantly engages Nikai and is completely comfortable roughhousing with him. Nikai is the newest adorable addition to the Wolf Conservation Center’s Ambassador Pack. Today, as an Ambassador wolf, Nikai helps WCC wolves Atka, Zephyr, and Alawa open the door to understanding the importance and plight of their wild kin. No longer a pup, Nikai has become a powerful presence in the fight to preserve wolves’ rightful place in the environment.

So, it’s kind of weird. Sometimes I feel totally wild, totally free and like I was a loner/stray/runaway??/etc. and I want to chew my collar up and stay in the woods for hours and lay in the grass and hunt things and other times I feel domestic and really enjoy being around people/homes/etc. and want to wear my collar and just be like a pet. It could just be the conflict between the two species in me (wolfdog) but sometimes it’s hard to deal with.
